OT Things to Do in LA
Someone's post today that they went and saw their dealer in LA prompted me to write this. Pardon the off-topic.
My wife and I are flying to LA Friday. We're going to the Colbie Caillat concert at the Troubador Friday night. Staying at the Beverly Wilshire.
Saturday is free. We are both in our 50's. I believe 50 is the new 40.
Please recommend where to go and eat Friday night and Saturday.
I have a reservation for an Audi Cabriolet with SilverCar, but I'm wondering if we should even rent or just Uber it.
Thanks in advance,
Peter

If you do like wine, Wally's in Beverly Hills has the best selection of wines by the glass in he city. More like bar food, but great truffled fries. Short walk from your hotel. Different experience than a restaurant, with large shared tables.
Cut at the hotel has great steak
Catch LA in west Hollywood - great fish and other stuff
Felix Trattoria in Venice has great pasta - always packed and lively.
For different type of experience, but less formal, tapas style more or less, Otium and Bestia downtown, and Tar & Roses in Santa Monica
I would just Uber and forget about driving.

For some other quintessential LA food experiences try for reservations at:
Jon and Vinny's - (now 2 locations), casual but very high quality pizza/pasta
Gjelina - In Venice on Abbot Kinney, great food, interesting area to walk around
Nobu Malibu - drop the top on your audi and head up PCH to Nobu. Makes for a fun evening.
AOC
Katsuya - I actually like the brentwood location.
Son of a Gun
If you want a scene, Catch or Nobu are both very sceney.

We visit LA several times a year, and we generally try a different restaurant each night we're there. Some of my favorites are Lukshon, Bavel, Bestia, Here's Looking at You, Rossoblu, and Majordomo. A great restaurant guide is la.eater.com. Check out their Eater 38 for a nice list of restaurants. Most restaurants have valet parking, so either driving or taking an Uber/Lyft will work (depending upon how much you intend to drink).

If you've never driven on Pacific Coast Highway out to Malibu, do it! There's nothing like it in Texas or the east coast. You could have lunch at The Malibu Cafe off of Kanan Dume Road. There's nothing spectacular about the food, but it's a fun drive to get there and the grounds of the restaurant are cool. Kind of a funky Austin feel to it. You could also swing by the overlook of the Snake section of Mulholland. I wouldn't recommend driving it though, too many idiots on bikes and cars racing up and down from lunch into the afternoon.

Luftgekuhlt 6 (https://luftgekuhlt.com/event-info) is Sat morning at universal studios backlot. Sold out but have there a few threads where people can’t go and are reselling tix. Have to jump thru a few hoops to transfer them to your name but it can be easily done. I personally know of 2 friends who can’t make it. PM me if u want me to ask if their tix are still for sale.

Vibrato's for a movie set jazz restaurant / bar type of vibe.
Baked potato for raw jazz where jazz lovers go to eat a baked potato (and only baked potatoes) + a drink or 3 and music. up close. In your face.
Prime LA - but right below it is one of the last rotating lounges in the western US.
Zuma Beach
Malibu and Pacific Coast Highway (Decker and Mulholland drive)
Have fun!
