Coupe or Cabriolet????
#31
Out of 43 Porsche's only 3 have been cabs (I of the 4 I own now is a cab), and though I also have a California T (which I almost never take the top down), when I want to go for a convertible ride, I take the Porsche. There is no right or wrong answer, it used to be said that coupes are drivers cars and convertibles are for being seen in, but I never thought that to be true. My cab is stored with the rest of my summer cars from Nov-April, and now my 991 C4S is in storage (my winter fun car). I don't think I could at this point just have one, but if I did have to, it would probably be a cab. Nothing like an early morning summer ride with the top down.

Like the other feedback I think it's a very personal choice. I will always have a Cab because I love top down driving. Like some here I don't really like that when it's hot; I love mornings, evenings, and cooler days. I totally agree that 991 Cabs with the top up are great daily drivers. I'm fortunate enough to have a GT3 Touring which I also love. One is my "cruising car" the other is my "get in trouble" car...

I have had three Cabs, and I rarely put the top down during the heat of the day for two reasons: 1. I don't like the sun on my face as I have light sensitive eyes, and 2. Sun does damage. However, I used it in the mornings, and most desirably in the evenings when it is cool. Looking up at the stars or moon while stopped is just incredible. I am wrestling with this same choice now as I try to decide on a coupe or cab.

It's a personal choice and I think depends heavily on where you grew up. The only people I know that drive Cabs are from the Midwest or East coast or somewhere cold (Germany) and grew up dreaming that people in California all drive convertibles up and down the coast waving to David Hasselhoff.

I always had cabs and loved them. With my light skin, I always slathered sunblock on my face, neck, ears, arms, and hands. I had some skin cancer pop up in spite of precautions and the doctor said “no more”.
There is nothing like having the top open, smelling the forest, hearing birds, water cascading down a rock cliff, and the beautiful note of the engine and exhaust. If you can do it, cab all the way.

Live in SW PA. Had a 911 2005 S Cab for 14 years. Drove it in the winter with snows, but had some difficulty on steep streets with ice. Bought a 2018 RS3 in 2017.
My 992 2020 4S Cab is currently in Davisville, RI and will be delivered within a week.
I sold my 911 and am trading in the RS3. This will be my only car, and can't wait.
PS: my masculinity is quite secure

My first 911 was a 996 C4 Cab and I bought it because at 6'6", I was simply too tall to fit into the coupe and the cabriolet had an extra inch or two of headroom. One of the best driving experiences of my life was the first time I ever drove that car through a tunnel with the top down and the sports exhaust engaged. I was grinning from ear to ear the whole time. I also live in the, "land of the midnight sun," so it's kind of nice to take the car out at 10pm in June with the top down and the sun shining. I'm not one of those people who will put on a parka and drive with the top down in the winter, so my current 991 Turbo Cab. has the top up full time from mid-October to about April.
I thought about selling or trading in my 991 Turbo Cab for a new 992 Turbo S Cab, but instead I decided to keep my current car for another year or two and added a 992 C4S coupe as a second Porsche. I haven't decided yet whether or not I'll garage the Turbo Cab for the whole winter next winter.

Had a 981 and loved driving with the top down . . . for a while. Wind going right over my head (kinda tall @ 6-03) tended to make the scalp itch after a while and any dermatologist would tell you that much sun exposure is not a great idea (at any age). When trying a ball cap, was always paranoid I'd look the wrong direction and it'd going flying off. So, OP, ya just need to decide how crucial that open air feeling is. You'll likely use far less than you'd think. This time around, I ordered a coupe w/sunroof.

I have a 981 and live in New England and love driving with the top down. I had it out multiple days this week with the top down. I completely disagree with the notion you will not use it as much as you think, It is completely dependent on the person and what you like. In ordering a 992 to replace the 981, I never even contemplated a coupe. Maybe I would have if it would be my only car...well a targa then. My wife's only mandate with me spending all this money on another car was that it had to be a convertible (and not a boring color)
