Default Auto Emergency Braking and Radar Detectors

Since the 992 has Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking as standard, I'm wondering if that will render a radar detector useless. If the systems are radar based (I think they must be), I'd think that they would send out a constant signal that would trip a radar detector. But perhaps, they use a different frequency. Does anyone know? Blind Spot Monitoring, Turn Assist Rear Monitoring, and Animal/Pedestrian Detection systems are optional. Will any of those interfere with radar detectors?

What if it’s a frequency that the police also use?

It's not an issue. First of all these systems don't use the primary frequency used by law enforcement. Secondly newer radar detectors have software that can filter out known car-based radar safety systems and they are constantly updated as new cars with different systems hit the market.

I have forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking on both my Turbo S and on my E63S and the radar detection systems on both cars work perfectly.

The bigger issue is not what it does to your detector but rather what it does to others around you. I had an older V1 that threw so many false warnings due to all this radar nonsense that I just gave up with using one.

Thanks stealthpilot. Limegreen, I recently upgraded to a Escort Max 360. It's pretty quite. It doesn't seem to pick up the various systems on other cars. My prior unit was a 9500ix, and that became useless. It tripped at every other car on the road.

Thanks Denny! Is the Escort Max 360 also working for European radar frequencies?

I don't have any idea what is used in Europe. I don't know if the cars use the same frequencies as they use over here or what the cops use.

I hope this system is better than Benz’s. Apparently on the track the car applies the brakes as you approach other cars on track that you are trying to pass...

You can disable it for track use.

I dont think it matters. I believe the standard equipment is camera based, not radar.

Is that an option in the infotainment menu or a more difficult intervention?

Keep in mind that instant on laser radars render your radar detectors useless. Just be cautious

Yes that's why you have to have laser jammers like the Escort CI360/ZR5 or the Antilaser.
