I think its silly to assume you cant immediately notice these things just looking at the car at a dealership, reading reviews online or reading complaints in this forum to come to the exact same conclusion.

When I test drove 992’s I took my girlfriend who’s never heard of rennlist, a 992 and certainly not this controversy and the first thing she did was point at the nubbin and say “I don’t like the way that thing looks”.

i might get stung for answering without owning, but they removed the physical buttons; now homelink is buried somewhere in pcm, hence all the threads about mapping the diamond favorite buttons to homelink, and related workarounds. a non trivial number of owners have taken to using the garage remote supplied with the opener.

SERIOUSLY????????????????????????????????????????? What German engineering genius came up with that stupidity??????????????????? You know at some point the old adage "if it ain't broke don't fix it" has now come rushing to mind. Wow....

I find the shaver shifter to be a non-issue. In fact since I’ve had the 992 my Cayenne shifter feels unecessarily clunky.

That's funny ! The first thing my girlfriend said when she saw the shifter nubbin was to say.."you need a shave ! "

New 992 GT3 has replaced the nubbin with a new regular looking stick shift....992.2 will probably have as an option...or maybe replacement..

Similar situation here! The first thing my girlfriend said when she saw the shifter nubbin was to say.."what does your wife think of it?"

I agree. I am pretty sure the gear selector is just an electrical switch mounted to the chassis, not mechanically linked to anything. I can't see why they couldn't be interchanged. The only tricky part would be if the transmission will know to let the GT3 stick function as intended.

While the MT is an improvement and also gets ride of some of the shiny black plastic, TBH it looks a little incongruent with the rest of the cabin. I’m planning to order MT on my build which locks in a couple weeks, but TBH the nubbin is kind of growing on me. Buttons would have worked better though and streamlined cabin yet further. The extra inch aluminum PDK shifter doesn’t seem worth $900 to me. It’s not enough of an improvement. I’d pay $1000 for the GT3 shifter as it’s sufficiently different, though I agree with others that the GT3 fake manual shifter is kind of poser.

Interesting. And candid.

A female friend of mine took one look at a GT3RS PDK Lever and said - ‘If Darth Vader has a #%^*+. That’s what it looks like.’

I’ll never look at the shifter in the same way again. 😹

What an odd comment. Of course Vader's got a *****. Also, are we not allowed to say "*****"? Or is a "#%^*+" something else?
