Saw two black 992's today in the SF Bay Area. Definitely test mules as I could see passenger on handheld radio and manufacturer plates. They were driving super slowly and I almost drove right past them. I uploaded two images. Both poor quality because I was in my car. It is much more understated than I expected. Possibly because they were black and very dirty. All happened pretty fast. Wish I could have gotten a better look. Side note, I tend to like black because because less likely to be notice unless clean and gleaming..
Maybe its a model with a full PDK stick or a manual.
Could also be a hybrid model. Maybe they have more kinks and need to get fixed asap. I can happily tell them 2 Major Kinks....3 technically, but 2 for sure needs fixing asap
Test cars / prototypes (especially the near-production ones) are not automatically scrapped just because the car has been showed to the public. They can have a lot of life still left in them plus they are probably heavily instrumented and thus very expensive to replace just to get another color than black
