Most of the differences between 991.2 and 992 have been liberally documented in magazine reviews but for me the main differences that stuck out were:
- without rear axle steer the thing is a bus. whatever you do, get it.
- ride and steering is exemplary
- it has GTS levels of grunt
- turn-in is fantastic....but....the wider front end makes it a bit harder to place on narrow roads/corners and thats coming from someone who owns a 991.2 GT3 RS
so I am used to the wide front track and I don't have any difficulty placing the RS properly on narrow roads.. It just seems that on the 992, because the steering is still not at 991.2 GT3 RS level, it makes the car a bit harder to place.
- ohhh...and the doors handles are a PIA

I can still add it to my Cabrio if i'm convinced it improves the dynamics to a noticeable extent.
Can you extrapolate on your comment that a 992 without RAS drives like a bus as i'd have thought that would apply more to the 991.2..

I have a 992S Coupe coming next week and a 992S Cabrio in July..Despite choosing RAS on my old 911.2GTS i have left it off both my 992s..My reasoning is that with the non RAS 992 having an 11% faster steering rack i didn't think it was such a 'must have' on the 992 compared to the 991.2.After reading Janko Lind's driving review on his new non RAS 992S he seems to be in agreement with myself..He also said that RAS was an absolute 'must have' on the 991.2.

I'm curious if you have Comfort Access. Without CA, I assume you need to press the button on the key to lock and unlock the doors. Doesn't unlocking the doors by pressing the key deploy the handles and eliminate the problem? I still think that the Tesla handles are ridiculous, but hopefully, pressing the unlock will deploy them. Also, if you close the door but do not lock the car (as in your garage) will the handles stay out or will they still retract? If they retract and you do not have comfort access, do you need to press the unlock button even if the car isn't locked, just to deploy the handles???

Or are you basing it on your experience by driving a RAS equipped 991.2GTS..

BTW, Dolomite Silver is very nice. 4S had the Sportex seats 2S had leather. I much preferred the Sportex.

Having driven the 2S 992 I can say that the 0-60 will make you think you are in a lot higher dollar Porsche like a GT or Turbo. The instant throttle / launch off the line is the best it's ever been for a 911S. We did a few pulls and I mentioned to my codriver "this feels like an RS" through first 2 gears.

C.J.,
Do you know if the 992s slated for NA will be equipped with the GPF? Or just Europe and China?
and not to hijack the thread, but I have the same question for 2020 718 cayman
thanks

Car seems very very capable. Also, note that he really likes the 991 Carrera T and noted that car feels a good bit narrower than the 992.
Be very interested to drive this car.

The US spec 992s sound significantly better than the EU ones! I don't think they have a gpf and they also don't have to comply with the EU car noise regs. On the inside though they sound pretty much the same.
