Default Gotta Go

I have got to leave this 992 forum. There are so many haters here and surprised the moderators just let it go on. Even four letter words? C'mon. I see so much negativity in the news and when I visit here, I just want to escape to someplace fun and interesting. Shouldn't the forum be all about friendly exchanges? The very title "haters welcome" is disturbing to me. Should people give opinions on likes and dislikes? Sure, but can't they be expressed without the visceral negative and repetitive discourse?

I've said it before and say it again, allowing aliases for screen names invites people to be irresponsible in public. I'll be back when/if the moderators get a handle on this thread. Don't bother to respond because I won't be here to read it.

Then how are you going to know when the moderators have a handle if you're not reading?

Haha there may be some truth to that.

Dan don't go. Use the "report post" button and this notifies the Moderators of trolling by the usual RL trolls. The Mods do a good job, but can always use a little assistance.

Certainly profanity is never allowed.

Try it. You are not alone. You have a voice. Be heard.

I agree the trolls have been allowed to run rampant. They go into every thread and make completely off topic comments and just parrot the same lame criticism over and over again about a car they’ve never driven or even seen in real life. Where are the mods?

Aren t this "enthusiast" jurnos reviewing the 992 (invited by Porsche
..) acting like super trolls as you say? Would you invite anyone able to frankly speak at your press realease? Do you cry for that kind of unilsteral marketing travested as "free" journslism??

Rennlist is the 1st Porsche forum because everyone has a voice
they open an hate thread and you CAN open a love thread at the same time!

The community will judge which one they like more for very well good reasons that
snobbery granmas can not understand

it s a matter of freedom and it s a cultural point, after all this unrestricted voice posdibility is the pillar of the US, you can always go to your hairdresser and read Christophourus or whatever they call it if you are an easy tears teenager

This has nothing to do wiith freedom of speech. You don't have freedom of speech on Rennlist, like any forum, moderators set the rules and they will suspend or ban anyone who doesn't follow those rules. And people are free to express their dislike of the 992, no one is complaining about that. The problem is there's a small group of users who have made it their mission to jump into every thread and start trashing the car with completely off-topic comments. It's counter productive and turns every thread into a flame fest, but I guess the moderators don't care at this point.

FYI for all in attendance, moderators are unpaid volunteers using their free time to help keep some order around here. It's impossible for us to read even a fraction of every thread / post. The entire basis of how these forums were designed form the start is the community must take some responsibility for the content within these pages.

What does that mean?
1. Report posts you feel are over the line
2. Ignore the trolls

I cannot stress #2 enough. Seriously, how difficult is it to bypass and not respond to what is obviously a troll post or thread? You feed the trolls they grow stronger.

That's the idea. I often picture threads as a scene in a bar, would 90% of these exchanges be taking place in person? The answer is a strong no, and that says something about our society today.

I think a good rule everyone should follow is: "Would I stay this to the face of a complete stranger at cars & coffee?"

If that answer is "no" - don't post it.

Frankly the vitriol attitudes around here lately is shocking. A group of grown, most likely financially secure adults arguing like children on a playground yelling about who's father can beat up who. Who cares if a 991 owners thinks your 992 is ugly?
Try growing up a fan of the 928!!! I was told, to my face by complete strangers: "That's not a real Porsche" or "Great Porsche since you cannot afford a real one" or my favorite: "I see you bought the cheap Porsche"

Then we had the air cooled crowd dumping on the 996 / Boxster people (that at least had some historical content of air vs water cooled) but now we have the water cooled crowds turning on each other? What's next??? A Porsche SUV based on a VW chassis???....oh wait.

Arriving in my 944S was even better: "Nice Audi". I'm not even sure how that's an insult but the tone meant it was supposed to be.

So I guess such attitudes are deeply rooted in the culture of Porsche ownership. That doesn't mean we have to blindly accept it or put up with this. But it's up to everyone to help, the mods cannot be everywhere.

That's a nice thought but unrealistic. For starters that's next to impossible to police and frankly makes no difference. I see far worse exchanges on Facebook pages than here, with zero moderation. Unless you are buddy buddy with one of the 2-3 admins of the page who simply ban those they don't agree with.

Thread closed. Can we go back to just making fun of Corvette and Mustang owners? (that's a joke, many of us own Corvette's and Mustangs)
