992 Release

If you listened to the RL crowd, every 911 made past the original SWB 911 has been worse and uglier than the predecessor. I don't know how Porsche has been able to continue to sell so many 911's past 1968, given they only get more hideous and less engaging each iteration?
Obviously, whatever 911 we currently own is the BEST EVER, we plan to keep it FOREVER and get a tattoo of the VIN across our back!!!!

I hope the 992 GT series makes me want to puke in my 991. And i hope the 994/5/6 continue to do the same.
I hope the 992 makes me want to sell every prior 911 I own because it is so incredibly awesome. I hope I never keep any car forever.

Finally happy Porsche got rid of that old ugly PDK shifter in the 991. Can’t belief so many people freaking out over not having a phallus to grab.

In fairness to me, I don’t like the design of the 991 all that much either. It does have one advantage (to me) that makes it worth it over a 997: aluminium construction. I also am the sort of person who thinks Porsche stopped making 911 in 1998 with the end of 993.
On the plus side, Porsche is bringing back green with the 992 and has a new blue which looks great. Hopefully those two colors are available on GT cars. Credit to will at ptsrs

I remember when the 991 was released and it was nothing but complaining about how big it was and that will take away from what the car is/was. And here we are at the 992 release, I believe the 991 was the highest produced and sold 911 to date from the stats at the live event last night?
It will sell no doubt, it will have pros and cons over the previous generations; and many of us will try to get whatever GT car comes out and realize they managed to take another step forward with it. In the meantime, I'll drive my antique and continue to be happy about that

i like it, especially the new rear spoiler. I will probably buy it and replace the shifter with the better looking AMG one.

Yeah you nailed it perfectly. just insecure about what they have, really dumb. I see this over and over on rennlist constantly. They only made 1 of my car right?!??! and only 12 Gt3's are being made for the north western section of the bottom half of Utah of North america United states correct?!?!?! and no one else can get pts, only me right?!?!?! jeez enjoy your car already this new car looks great. It was built by the same designer who made the last 4....which all also looked great...
I dont know how they could have done a better job tbh. They modeled this after the 70's turbo, huge ***, nice widened front track and a skinny center body....Sounds like a great recipe to me. That is literally what the GT rs's are. They kept buttons when everyone else is 100% digital. They left the tachometer non digital. I mean lets hear it from all the 991 and prev gen owners why they hate the new and improved body and looks and how the designers who live and breathe this all day long got it all wrong. Lets hear what the rennlist geniuses would have done that these guys could not...

I wasn't sure about the 992 when i saw the spy pics. But now that I see the final product, I think it looks perfect and couldn't be better put together.
The exterior proportions are perfect, the shape as you saw has become more voluptuous. The little details like the door handles, and third brake light is going to become unique design features I think we will come to love. The interior looks amazing. Like you said, I am so glad they didn't go all digital for the dash/tach (Audi and esp Mercedes all digital dash looks horrendous).
The interior is refined, cohesive, modern and sleek, yet understated and quite conservative, which is exactly what it should be in a Porsche. My only grip is the logo in the back where '911' is a different font and raised vs the 'Carrera' lettering.
And those performance figures are quite staggering tbh. 0-60 in 3.2s for the Carrera 4s with Sport Chrono. A regular non GT car that housewives may be driving. A car at this price level, whose performance virtually blows away most super/hyper cars from 10 years ago. If it sounds good too, I am completely sold.

Burning Brakes
The thing many people haven't realised is that the nubbin doesn't include a manual selection, i.e. no +/-. Therefore, replacing the nubbin would be basically pointless, if not for looks only.

This seems really nit-picky but I don't care for the squared off front of the hood and how it extends a little into the bumper. It all looks disjointed to me. I do like the 993-esque ridges in the hood. The RS cars have these as well and I think it's a classic look.
The back... well... it's busy. I don't like the center brake light. It seems like an afterthought. I like the way it's done on the Cayman along the top of the rear windshield. And I don't like the black surrounding the rear windshield and encompassing the air intake on the deck lid. There were mules spotted that had that in body colour so I expect that will be an option. That looked better.
The interior... I'm hoping that looks better in person.

This is the first 911 release in a while that I haven’t rushed to the configurator to spec out a ‘likely build’! Not saying I don’t like the direction Porsche took with this car however I will reserve judgment until the GT variants are released.

Lizard green in a base 992 would be just god awful. Looks good on extreme cars like the RS, but yikes that would be quite an eye sore! surprised Porsche added that as an option.

I get that they are trying for the retro look with the straight frunk lid line, but it doesn't work with how rounded the rest of the front end is IMO.
But the PDK "shifter"....OMG....what were they thinking??!!
