I will for sure. But it will be a 992.2 unless I hear rumors that the manual is going away then I will go for the 992.1. I have a 2018 911 so I plan to replace it with a 992.2 GT3 provided I can get an allocation for a GT car. Is it too early to get on the fake dealer lists where everyone can cut in line anyway?

But that will be... I dunno... 2022? I don't know if I could spend so many years clicking options in the configurator without pulling the trigger.

I am assuming that the 992.1 Carrera and Carrera S will get the current gen 3.0 engine + tweaks.

I'm curious, do we think the eventual followup launch of a 992.1 Turbo (and Turbo S) will sport a new engine? Will they get some version of the 9A2? Something brand new? Or is the current 3.8 going to live on into the next decade?

That might decide (for me) what kind of 992 I'll get.

According to this article, the Turbo/S will stick with the 3.8L. Although there are several other articles that speculate that it may use the same 3.0L engine as the Carreras. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n...19-porsche-911. 992 Carreras definitely sticking with the 3.0L.

I think I will - assuming the 992 Targa is as beautiful as the 991.x Targas, that is.
Guessing that will be 2021 or 2022 (maybe for a Targa GTS). My 2016 Cayman GTS will be ready for replacement by then =)

Ooh, this forum has the new car smell!
I didn't get the 991.2 I wanted due to no 2018 allocation, so I think I'll keep that build sheet and try again when the 992 GTS comes around, and I'll try not to be late to the party this time.

I'm really curious to see some HP/TQ figures along with 1/4 mile, 0-60 and track times. Could we see a 400hp base? 450hp S and 480hp GTS? Would be interesting to see how the RWD will handle the higher hp/tq. My current .2 GTS will sometimes spin off the launch.

I hope they manage to keep the weight down.. Could we see an AWD hybrid?

I will most likely be skipping a generation...love the 991 (have owned two 991.1S's) and have an ordered 991.2GTS that will be arriving in the next few weeks.

Any chance the new 992 Targa will have a hardtop roof? That would be something for me.

Sounds about right. Which is why I think no way the Turbo will have the 3 liter engine. Turbo S will likely have 6xx hp, reliably extracting that much power from the base engine sounds like a bit of a stretch.

Larger displacement would make it easier to hit 6xx reliably.

Please pardon my ignorance: what's the history of the 3.8 in the 991.2 Turbo(S) now? Was it new in the 991.1? Was it an evolution of the 997.2? Is it substantially a design that goes back even further?

So far, I haven't seen anything in the "leaks" that is compelling. I am not keen on squared off front end, the electronic dash (except for the tach), and the wide center console may not make for a pleasurable MT experience. I'll need to sit in one. At this point, I also considering the upcoming Boxster Spyder.

Maybe I'll get a 2nd year 992. Maybe a 992 GTS. I'd need a minimum 480 HP (I have 430 now). 500 would be better. Manual a must.
