991 vs 992 turbo s?
I think I'm set on adding a turbo s to my garage. I'm looking for a comfortable ride that I can use to visit national parks a good distance away--500+ miles each way with radar cruise. I like the look of both 991 and 992 turbo s's. I like 991.2 turbo s interior better than 992 turbo s interior. It's about $100k difference between the 2. I wanted to ask those who came from 991.2tt to 992tt the perceived differences. if the improvements are all very marginal, I think i would be happy sitting in 991.2 until the 992TT market softened up a little more. Thanks in advance.

The 991's tts's are nice, I have several, and I agree the center console area of the 991's is nicer looking to me anyway than the 992's, having said that the 992 tts is miles ahead of the 991 in how it drives and feels, more solid over poor road surfaces, it's just way more comfortable to drive. I thought my 2017 was it, the best 991.2 I had, but then the 992 showed up, and I just don't drive the 991's as much as I used to

I looked very seriously at getting a late model 991 Turbo S... till I saw and sat in a customer's 992 Turbo S. I had to have one. No regrets. New is wonderful but your needs and desires may be different than mine. Do what makes you happiest, you can do a lot with that $100k like redo your garage and a bathroom or 2!

I owned a 991.1 TTS Coupe and am now in a 992.1 TTS Cab. Both are amazing cars and you can't go wrong with either one. That said, there are two things that the 992.2 brings to the table that I really like. Foremost is a move toward being more sporty - the 991.1 was definitely closer to being a grand tourer than the 992.1. The other is Apple CarPlay, which is fantastic, especially if you're taking long drives.

Had '18 991.2 TT and now '21 992 TTS. 992 interior grew on me and I prefer it now, and more importantly (and I've said it before), the AWD/computers/RWS seem to be much improved so the front and rear of the car feel much more connected as you approach the limits. I wouldn't go back.

I wouldn’t hold your breathe on the market softening. Hybrid coming out next and likely a decent price increase.

I had a 991.2 TTS and 992 TTS at the same time.
I would say that both are great, and overall it's a tie for me. The 991 feels a bit more intimate, a bit softer ride, more analog interior, more tossable. The 992 feels a bit bigger, firmer ride (with Sport PASM), more sporty overall, more modern and digital interior.
When I had to pick one to trade in for something, I chose to keep the 992 because it was unmodded and more sporty, whereas the 991 had some mystery mods, but it was a tough decision on which to trade in.
I plan to buy another 991 TTS, because it was one of the best cars I ever had and it's different enough from the 992 that I might be able to justify having both.

Used to own a 991.2, been shopping 992. On the fence currently. There are a few things that the 991 does better IMO which are pulling me away from the 992.
I modify my vehicles no matter what it is.
991 sounds much better with an exhaust. Compare Kline Inconel videos back to back. Might not matter to others but this matters to me and this is my go to setup. Kline inconel or bust for me.
991 better interior design and quality
991 looks more elegant and timeless
991 is lighter
Those are the main few reasons without getting too into detail. Other major factor is pricing. There's a massive delta in between the two.
992 makes the 991 look a little dated, especially the 991.1 or a poorly spec'd .2. 992 has a lot more flare and I personally don't know how it will age. My opinion is not as good as the 991.
992 Stock for stock a better performer (greatly negated if you modify). 992 also launches better and more consistently.
992 "latest and greatest". For me personally it means nothing, don't care what the next guy thinks but if you're trying to impress the 992 wins. This also means you'll find more lower mileage 992s which is a bonus. 992 looks "richer" if that's your thing.
Several other minor details are involved that breakdown the above mentioned opinions. The major ones being the entire center console area, the PCM, steering wheel, guages, Audi-esq seats, giant cup holder. The 991.1 PCM has very poor resolution, especially in the MFD. The 991.2 fixes that. I'm a big fan of the cup holder setup in the 991.
