Default Uniden r8 blend mount

Hi! I am looking at the Uniden r8 radar and want to flush mount this under the rear view mirror. Anyone have issues mounting it nice and flush there?

I saw Best Buy offers a hardwire install for radars for only 79.99, are they trustworthy?

I bought this one on amazon:
Amazon Amazon

Been using it for a year or so now... I get some "bounciness" when in sport mode over nasty roads, but I like the location/proximity to mirror (sits 1.25" below the mirror) and it has been mostly solid. I could probably get it flush to the mirror, but that would require pushing the R8 to protrude further out into the cabin (by changing the mount elbow to bend forward instead of aft).

Cheers,
L76

Here's a pic of my R8 blendmount in a 992 GT3 RS, probably very similar to a Turbo S. Taken from the driver's point of view:

i had the BlendMount on a C7 Z06 vette - it shook the mirror so rudely that eventually the entire mirror assembly had to be replaced, as tightening (the mirror) was never good enough - on my tts its back to suction cups for the V1...definitely the way to go for me - less stress on the mirror and my nervous system

2015 z06 - 85,000 miles - 6 sets of tires ---- moved on to 2021 TTS

I'm using a "permanent" mount with 3M VHB tape on all my cars and found it works perfectly. Simple and discreet as I tuck the unit up and to the right of the mirror on the passenger side.

I actually prefer the Uniden mono suction cup. I mount mine as close to the headliner as possible

looks great. That Amazon link says it’s unavailable, have an updated one by chance? Also, where did you buy the wire tap kit? Thanks!

It’s all buried in this thread somewhere.

Wire tap is this one:

As for mirror mount, I would try this one. Appears to be the same/updated model as one I purchased last year. Works great.
Amazon Amazon

Good luck,

I have yet to see an example of the in mirror display and I agree it looks great. Wanting to avoid any fix it tickets or wires hanging down I went with a fully integrated system from escort. One cool feature that newer cars allow for is the ability to have alerts wired into the digital screens next to the tachometer. Basically this means that when I get an alert it shows up on screen similar to an incoming phone call and I can just clear it by using the scrolling wheel/button on the steering wheel. Good luck with your search.

Mscott that is very cool. I have never seen this.

Also, where did you get the carbon fiber overlay on the console? DB Carbon?
