I had a '14 TTS Coupe for 5½ years. Had a couple of other cars after that, but now I'm back in a '23 TTS Cab.

1. Gauges are OK, except as many have noted you can't see the outer two without peering around the steering wheel. Kind of annoying.
2. I am underwhelmed by quality. Car spent a month in the shop sorting the engine mount issue (during which they found a long list of other things that needed addressing). And now I've got a "Reduced Engine Power Driving permitted Visit Workshop" error.
3. Right now I'm very much on the fence. For the '23, I like the added power, the sportier chassis, the reduced number of buttons without going too far in that direction, and Apple CarPlay. But I've been visiting service too often and for far too long for a car that I got in April. If the current issue is addressed quickly and is the last one, then the 992.1 will eke out a victory. Otherwise, I would have to say that the 991.1 TTS I had was far better.

I much prefer the looks of the new car to the 991 Turbo S. But everyone is different, some will agree, some will not. I went not from a 991 Turbo S (which I wasn't in love with the looks of) but from a 997 Turbo S to the new car, same exact color on both. Here they are together just after I sold the 2012 car. Best wishes, really... you'd have to drive the car for 30 minutes to really know and walk around it 10X. New is nice, but that's just me. This... is my last car. I am confounded that my dealer gave me an allocation, and at a 1 1/2% discount, I never bought a car from them before, just serviced my 2012 car there.

Is that house in Ellicott City?

No, Gaithersburg MD - Kentlands. The original picture is the mansion we got married at 1 year ago.

Interesting info from AI on capabilities....The Porsche 991.2 Turbo S and the 992 Turbo S are both incredibly fast cars, but there are some key differences between their lap times on various racing tracks around the world. Here's a breakdown:

Nürburgring Nordschleife:
  • 991.2 Turbo S: 7:17.11 (Sport Auto)
  • 992 Turbo S: 7:16.04 (Sport Auto)
The 992 Turbo S is slightly faster than the 991.2 Turbo S on the Nürburgring, but the difference is very small. This is likely due to the 992's improved aerodynamics and suspension, as well as its slightly more powerful engine.

Laguna Seca:
  • 991.2 Turbo S: 1:16.34 (Randy Pobst)
  • 992 Turbo S: 1:16.19 (Randy Pobst)
The 992 Turbo S is again slightly faster than the 991.2 Turbo S on Laguna Seca, but the difference is even smaller than on the Nürburgring. This is likely because Laguna Seca is a shorter and less technical track than the Nürburgring.

Spa-Francorchamps:
  • 991.2 Turbo S: 2:18.80 (Sport Auto)
  • 992 Turbo S: 2:18.30 (Sport Auto)
The 992 Turbo S is a bit faster than the 991.2 Turbo S on Spa-Francorchamps, but the difference is still small. This is likely due to the 992's improved power and handling.

As these results show, there is no clear winner between the 991.2 Turbo S and the 992 Turbo S in terms of lap times. Both cars are incredibly fast and capable, and the best choice for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences.

It's important to note that these are just a few examples, and there are many other racing tracks around the world. The lap times for both cars can vary depending on the specific track, the weather conditions, and the driver.

Regarding the lap times, 991.2 TTS was usually tested with the Corsa tires, which are R comps, whereas the 992 TTS were usually tested summer tires which are not R comps. I estimate that the R comps are more than 1 sec per minute faster than the non R comps. So the 992 TTS should be significantly faster on equal tires, though the 991.2 TTS is also quite fast (I'm pretty sure it's faster than a 991.1 GT3 on equal tires).

After having had the 991.2 and 992 at the same time for several months, and recently trading in the 991.2, I've reached the conclusion that, while the cars are similar in their market niche, they're different enough in their personality that it's best to have both. I'm pretty sure I'm going to own a 991.2 again, even if that means having to sell one or two cars.

MY2023 992.1 TTS Coupe

1. To date (15 months of ownership), no issue with the digital gauges (aside from the well documented lack of visibility of the outer gauges - this has been partially addressed by the later PCM functionality that allows a simplified display).

2. No quality issues but a few design gripes (stone collection in rear bumper (fender) air intakes; scoring of interior of rims due to the huge ceramic discs; fading of centre locks (not just a 992 issue) all of which have been discussed elsewhere on this forum and none of which Porsche will address via warranty (which appears to be getting tighter as the years progress)). None of these would prevent me from buying a 992 TTS, they are irritants but the pros of the vehicle far outweigh these slight cons.

3. I would agree with the above, I had a 991.2 TTS and moved to a 992.1 TTS last year and it is a different beast.

My first 911 was a 991.1 GTS (RWD) and after having it for two years I was tempted into the gen 2 TTS. I am sounding very spoilt here, but I wasn't as blown away as I hoped I would be; perhaps down to the RWD v 4WD factor but more likely because the GTS was my first 911 so there was always going to be a bit of first love syndrome!

After reading some of the reviews on the 992 TTS, in particular the more direct handling it offered, I put a deposit down and took delivery in late 2022 (as Manifold, I went for -10mm drop in an attempt to get a tighter handling as possible). For me it is a different experience to the 991.2. In my albeit unprofessional hands, the steering feedback and turn-in feels so much better. In short, go for it!
