5 year depreciation of the Porsche 911 is only 9%.

by comparison Maserati Quattroporte has the worst at 64.5%

Great news on the 911...though this inflated resale market is deflating.

I attest to the curse of the Maserati Quattroporte despite it actually being a very cool car. My dad had a 2010 GTS...one of the best stock exhaust i have ever heard and luxurious too.

He traded it in for 11,000 in 2022 on Mercedes for my mom. damn shame someone didnt want to ball it for 2 years before abandoning.

911 GT cars are keeping these numbers up as any of the Turbo/TTSs typically decline much greater than 9% the first 5 years........(in normal times, if they ever return)........we shall see.....

My TTS is 6 years old.....215K MSRP and can sell for about $165K to the right buyer......about 25% decline - good but not great........

If I only lose 10% after five years, I’m 110% fine with that.

I am puzzled on your comment that a 25% decline in 6 years is not great. On average, most cars will lose 50% of their value in 5 years (https://www.omnicalculator.com/finance/car-depreciation). May be you are comparing to GT cars but since most agree that a TTS is like a regular car, I would be ecstatic to only lose the % you mentioned. Please clarify.

These are not normal times. The combination of a very short supply for a very unusual long time and the resulting high inflation created an artificial reality where a TTS only loses 9% in 5 years as ECLOU mentions. If one got their TTS at "Normal" pricing 2, 3, 5 years ago, then yes, one could enjoy it for a while and sell it for close to what they paid for it. I got my TTS for 5K over in March 2022. So I will do reasonably well when it comes time to sell, but I fear those who paid large ADMs will take a big hit once pricing settles down if it hasn't already. As to any future new car purchases, (even TTs and GT cars) I would expect more traditional (ie, higher) depreciation drops. I love my TTS. I drive my TTS. I enjoy my TTS and the resale value will be what it will be when it's time to sell.

Define reasonably well, say if you sell next year? Probably at least a 25% drop depending on mileage?

"Reasonably Well" is subjective, relative, depends on mileage and condition and is a moving target at best. Since I only paid 5K over and since inflation has raised the prices on new cars tremendously, I don't think i'd lose 25% if I sold my car next year. My sticker was $257,000 + $5K ADM, total $262,000 for a very well optioned TTS Coupe. By next year i'm expecting to have 12,000 miles on it. If I sold it for $196,000 that would equal a 25% loss. I'm guessing it would fetch more than that. (but who really knows?) However, that's much better than those who paid $25K to $50K ADMs. Those buyers could easily lose 25%. Hence, people like me who got their cars at sticker or close to it (got theirs early enough before ADMs got crazy) should do reasonably well compared to those who paid much higher ADMs. Most importantly for me at least, is that I am ok with the price I paid and with the price i'll get when I sell it (Whatever it is) because I really wanted the car and i'm enjoying it tremendously.

I was speaking of the cars they identified as tops in residual. My case was greater than 9% for 911s, so I was comparing to that. I understand the reasons why higher priced cars like TTS non GT cars drop more than the 9%….not disappointed at all as my TTS will be keeper long term and is my daily…

Best value proposition is usually to buy a reliable and durable car and own it for many years.
