Default Throttle response question.

Hi guys. I’m looking for an opinion.
I had an opportunity to drive a friends 2023, 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. The car was absolutely gorgeous. I’m sure many of you came from having 991tts. Upon driving the car I noticed that the new car handles much better. I also noticed that the ride is much improved and it seems to soak up the bumps better than my car. The steering also feels quite different and improved.
The question I have is that the throttle response on my 991.1 feels more immediate and sharper than the 992. I understand the 992 TTS makes more torque a little higher in the rev range than mine, but even when my car is out of the peak torque area my car still felt faster to respond.
Has anybody else noticed anything like this?
I was actually quite surprised. I was in the car with a friend who also got a chance to drive the 992 briefly. We then went and drove my car and we both could tell the difference.
My car just felt sharper in regard to throttle response.

Yes, in my opinion the 991 TT/S throttle is sharper and more immediate. The 992 has some sort of throttle delay built in (IMO). This is something I noticed in the Carrera S and Turbo S that I owned.

I started out in normal mode and realized that might be the issue. And then switched over to sport. Although there was a difference, it still felt like there was delay. And then switched over to sport plus which felt better but again still a slight delay as compared to my car. I also think that normal in my car feels a little better regarding response time then sport in the 992.
You are right normal feels very anemic unless you push very hard on the gas pedal.

sport cats or bypass pipes with a tune will erase some of the lag. Less backpressure = faster spool

These cars adapt to driving conditions and road conditions. If the user drives it like a civic it will start to behave like a civic.

So did you guys come from 991 TTS’s And didn’t feel any changes?

I think I will also post this query in the 991 turbo section and see if anybody else feels the same way that still owns a 991.

I owned 991 before my 992. I don’t think throttle is much different as much as the gearbox 7sp in 991 vs 8sp in 992. 8sp in 992 is more cruise friendly and as a result much more relaxed/anemic. 992 normal mode feels almost like a lexus and much bigger gap in normal vs sport / sport + in 992. In 991 car felt like it was always on boil and normal mode was much closer to Sport.

In 992, ECU tune adds back the aggression and even then, normal mode is still subdued. I’m sure PDK tune ramps things up even further. I only have ECU tune and don’t have PDK tune since I’m perfectly fine with the bigger gap we have now in normal mode which is exclusively for cruising.

That was my only complaint about the car, the horrible throttle lag, it was worse than any other car I have driven. I got an M-Engineering tune put on it and almost all of it is gone and the car drives so much better, of course adding over 100 awhp didn't hurt either.

Thanks for the confirmation. Kind of disappointed with that aspect.

Yeah, I don't understand why they would put that into a car like this, it was probably done to pass emissions or sound ordinances or something like that, but the tune was well worth it and got rid of almost all of it.

That's what my friend said as well.

I am surprised no one else has mentioned or discussed this. I also have watched every review and no mention of it at all.

Sprintbooster solves the throttle response issue. Great upgrade for the money.

I am curious whether the m engineering tune can alter the throttle response, and by how much. It would seem possible.
