On prior generation 911 turbos that were tuned I was seeing noticeable degradation in performance when approaching 10-15k miles. That was with running plugs 1 stage colder than stock (typically Denso platinums). I personally experienced hesitation, pinging even an occasional misfire code when full throttle at peak torque. I have heard the 992 turbo plug changes were actually less painful than on the 996/997 turbos. Its not that the plug is melting but rather the electrodes start to wear and the gap opens higher.

Yes if the plug wears out, the gap would increase and blow out the spark. Checking plugs is part of the modding game. Changing yearly is a bit aggressive unless you’re DD the car and doing heavy miles.
