Default ‘22 911 Turbo S Coupe Review

So in the last year and a half I’ve had 4 daily drivers. My first was a 2018 Panamera Turbo ST which I later traded for a M8 Gran Coupe Comp. In June of this year I traded in the M8 for the new S580 with every option in AMG line.

I found the Panamera and M8 to not be overly exciting and I just felt that they weren’t balanced properly and were trying to emulate sports cad persona but weren’t executing well. Ultimately, they’re heavy and you can’t toss them around.

The S580 while loaded with tech was extremely buggy, subpar transmission and OK to drive. I had a number of issues related to CEL / suspension lights / ambient warning lights etc.

i thought long and hard and said to myself I’m 37 and in good shape and frankly don’t need a car with 4 doors since my wife has an Escalade and my weekend / exotic car is an F8 Spider.

The 911 Turbo S came to mind and having 2 small kids (ages 8 and 3) I knew the backseats would suffice. I tested them en route to school this AM and it was great.

Over the weekend I found a GT silver on red Turbo S in Porsche Tampa. It was a 2022 CPO with 98 delivery miles. $240.5k MSRP and just about every option I would want except for some minor aesthetics (gloss black vs. body color). I spoke with the dealer yesterday and we had an arrangement. I settled at $257k. This was at least $10k cheaper than the least expensive 911 Turbo S in the country with comparable MSRP / year and miles.

I drove down to Miami from Tampa and the drive was epic. The car is just perfect. I now understand why there’s such a cult behind the 911. The OEM sports exhaust blows the factory F8 exhaust out the water. The tech and PCM and Porsche app is light years ahead of any other exotic car brand.

The 911 turbo s has surpassed every level of my expectation. The braking is superb, the instant power delivery is superb and oh my God the handling is ungodly. This car makes you think you’re Mario Andretti! I’m thus far extremely satisfied with this purchase and I like how the car becomes super tame in normal mode and in sport mode it’s aggressive but not overly. I love that it holds its value as well as I know the waitlist at present is 2+ years for new orders and growing.

I’ve never driven a GT3 so I don’t know how that would compare but I certainly want backseats and I’d like to have creature comforts which I know are sparse in a GT3.

For anyone on the fence my advice to you is don’t think twice and do it. Even at the elevated market prices this car is worth it. In some aspects it’s better than my F8. Definitely on the exhaust note and I would even say definitely on the braking system as well. This car is an insane amount of fun. It’s really that good.

Hard not to have a Porsche 911 in your driveway/garage if you have the means

congrats on the car
but not to spoil the party , don't keep your hopes up on holding its value
traditionally TTS don't hold value the first three years
we don't know if the 992 generation will fair better as the car came into the market during the covid epidemic and as you well know the car market has been twisted
will see how things will shape up in couple of years

What you're saying is fair and applies to exotic marques as well. However, when was the last time a wait-list on a TTS 2+ years? I think until supply chain normalizes we will continue to see elevated demand and as a result elevated prices for the super high-end desirable cars i.e., 911 TTS, some Ferraris, McLarens, Lamborghinis etc.

Enjoy your car. Pointless to speculate on resale. I think it's fair to say the peak of the market has passed. The Turbo S is on a depreciation curve, albeit much less acute than in years past.

If rear seats are a requirement, the TTS is the one to have.

Congrats! Spot on with my observations over the last month or so since taking delivery of my TTS. With it having similar performance to the F8, how long until the TTS cancels it out and you move into a SF90 as the weekend exotic? Haha.

Looks awesome! I think I saw this one on Autotrader last weekend, I can tell by the seats. Does it not have the 930 leather package? Sunroof delete? Sports suspension?
I came from a 991.2 TTS and there were features I liked about that car, but the 992 TTS is a handling beast with sports suspension.
love the sports exhaust!
Car is so good I’m considering making it my only car and driving it year round in Chicago.

yes that one is likely it. The F8 is beautiful and to me a work of art. I’m never replacing it. The TTS is a perfect daily, doesn’t catch too much attention, blends in nice with traffic and is a great all rounder.
