Default 992 Turbo S w/ MT

I normally don't post in this forum but thought you might be interested -- was at my dealer and my SA told me they are coming out with a 992 Turbo S with a MT!

There has been rumors of a limited edition Sport Classic with a Turbo shell, RWD, MT, and 3.0 motor. Some have said it would be a Turbo motor given the shell, but the spy photos didn't show the necessary side air intakes.

They had to reinforce PDK to handle the TT/TTS, so adapting a manual could be tricky.

Driving a beast like that would be tricky as well - I'm trying to imagine heel toe downshifting a 640hp/590 lb/ft torque car to 4000 RPM in order to keep it on boost. That would be interesting.

992 Sport Classic likely coming with the 992 GTS engine (probably 3Q2022). Not looking like a detuned Turbo S power plant

Just a little reminder re the motor...Just because there aren't intakes on the sides, doesnt mean they didnt figure out an induction/intake system utilizing the ducktail setup Id put my money on the SC having a slightly detuned big boy motor in the mid 500s...and it will be gnarly.

I would say your dealer is wrong. They are 99.99% not coming out with a 992 Turbo S with a manual transmission.

From what I hear, getting a spot for a Sport Classic will make getting an allocation on a 992 GT3 or GT4RS look easy... True unobtanium.

even if they DID come out with one, good luck, the shifting necessary under full throttle, would amount to MANY MANY over revs, or at least many rev limiter banging sessions. Its just too much power with such close ratios.

Its not that much different than an OG gt2 or gt2 rs, the latter had nearly the same hp...just takes a little bit of forethought 😂.

I don't doubt you have good info - but if they went through all the significant trouble/expense of replumbing the 992 to accommodate a stealth 3.8 engine - I'm not sure why they'd detune it. Might as well put in the whole enchilada.

A RWD, manual, 3.8 car with bespoke engineering that may also end up being the swan song for ICE/FI...that truly would be an instant classic.

I have to imagine you're going for it...if so, good luck! That's going to be a challenging one to get.

The amount of MT driving skills or lack thereof ITT is a true showcase to the lost art. Kind of sad to see.

There's nothing wrong with an MT at these power levels, torque, and gear ratios in mind. Come on now!

Yes, the 992 Sport Classic will arrive this year, some even talk about June.

It will have the 3.8-liter, twin-turbo flat-6 with 550hp and a manual gearbox and limited to 2000 units.

At least these are the rumors, we will know soon enough.

Everything but the last part about production numbers seems pretty solid...units are going to be way fewer, at least I'd imagine.

I thought the same thing about the number of productions but many seem to indicate that there will be much more than the previous Sport Classic.

We will be soon enough.
