As another member said, if you’re asking this question then get the Tesla. Most of these cars are too fast to be used for straight line speed on the street, so unless you have a YouTube channel doing drag races, what is the point? The 911 handles better, has better build quality, looks better, and in my area Teslas are a dime a dozen.

I’ve had two of the “fast” Teslas and the build quality was horrendous. Never again.

My brother had a Tesla. I would not have accepted delivery on that car…the build quality…not so good.

You can hear the wind whisking around the mirrors for sure. Instant full-on torque is super cool though.

911 Turbo, blasting through canyons, pulling through corners, enjoying the art and science of driving, puts a huge smile on your face.

Tesla plaid is a one-trick pony. Ridiculous straight line acceleration. But do it a few times in a row, and you just feel like puking.

"You've got to ask yourself a question: 'Do I feel like puking?' Well... do ya, punk?"

Vegans & carnivores, apples & rocks, water & oil, yada yada yada.If I can have only one, it'll be the 911 all day. The Plaid is ludicrously fast in a straight line but it's still just a boring looking Tesla. If they build a supercar with sexy lines and supercar performance, I might be more inclined, especially since the TT/TTS PSE sounds mediocre at best. If you have the means, buy them both!

How does driving each car make you feel? If the Tesla Plaid scores better than the 911 Turbo S using that benchmark - go for it!

I will second that. One that buys a loaded TTS should have the means to buy a Plaid for DD. You then own the best of both worlds till the 992.1 TTS and the roadster comes out

I just installed Soul CL downpipes and I can attest that it now sounds amazing.

Well my buddy got a new Tesla and it burned his 3 month old house down. You ever see a lithium fire? Yowza! My buddies wife is an insurance agent here in Scottsdale and says it happens all the time. You see a Tesla fire and then fire trucks and shortly after a crew of people that work for Tesla to clean up the mess and keep it quite.

Not only that, but how can one possibly compare an internal combustion engine to a electric motor?!? Zero shifting and a mountain of right now torque. Look there is no trick to make an electric car fast in a straight line. You can make a dump truck fast with electric motors and a mountain of batteries. I just have 1 question… Since when was a 911 ever a dragster? I don’t get it.

I would be KIND OF impressed if Musk could build an internal combustion vehicle that remotely kept up with a 911 on a track and didn’t look like my Aunts grocery go getter. God I hate those cars.

I do feel a little better now. Lol

When I saw this thread I thought I’m in the Taycan forum…

Have to say if you really think a Plaid can possibly be better than a TTS then you may not appreciate what the 992 is capable of.

When people asked me why don’t you get a Tesla, way faster for less $$. I told them I’m just a stupid Porsche fanboy.

Why anyone would buy a Tesla for straight line acceleration (not speed, but acceleration) is beyond me.

That's like buying a beer because the bottle looks cool.

Oh, wait, nevermind.

Carry on.

Maybe i can help lol… There’s no doubt both are quick. That’s where the similarities end. What you get with the 911 is superior braking, handling and quality craftsmanship. The Tesla plaid is an amazing daily commuter with camry braking and you can feel its weight in corners.. I got lucky with my build with barely any issues but you can certainly tell where they cut corners. The no gas thing is cool, but you then you blend in with every other tesla on the road and theres no “wow” factor with it. One a 4 door rocket. The other a true sports car. Best of luck

EV's are one trick ponies with this one neat party trick. People buy the fast versions purely off launch reaction videos and think to themselves "I want that" then envision themselves getting that reaction out of people. They're also bought for bragging rights because they "beat" your performance/super/exotic car. Apple watch vs Rolex.

Have you ever seen the Tesla cliques at car shows? Cringe. They don't fit in because their cars don't fit in.

Buy the Plaid if you're fragile, because there's simple one reason people buy them and it's not about performance. If you want an EV sedan, buy the Taycan at least. It's so much nicer. The Audi equivalent looked pretty sharp too. The Model S design has been around for a full decade now. It's tired. The Model S needs a full revamp inside and out.
