Default Does anyone else think that the 991TT is better looking than the 992TT

I’m just curious what you guys think about the 992 versus its predecessor the 991. I had a 991.1TT and I’m taking delivery of a 992TT next month. Don’t get me wrong I’m very excited for the car and I know it’s gonna be great but I really feel that the 991 was overall a better looking car. I think on the 991 the deployable part of the rear spoiler integrated better with the fixed part when it was in the down position. I also don’t love the old 930 style hood with its squared off edges or the cuts that run down the middle of the hood. I do however like the wider front fender flares. Anyone else think similar?

I never really did like the 991, any of the model. 992 TTS is a better looking and much better car overall.

I like them both, they both are hot looking. If you ask on the 991 Turbo form, most everyone will say the 991 Turbo looks better.

Both the old car and the new car have their design attributes that are more appealing than the other, but the new car is so hot looking all around to me. It doesn't have a bad angle.

Personally, I think the 991.2 Turbo is one of the homeliest looking 911s since the 996. And I used to own one. The rear fenders had a weird squared off look to them and the car had a weak chin. Ride height, stock, was way too high and the wheels were too small for the mass of the body. I didn't care for the rear spoiler treatment or engine grille either. The car had a bloated, cruiser look to it IMO.

So clearly, I disagree. The 992 Turbo S is the best looking 992 model, GT3/T included.

The 992 looks like doodoo in photos, but looks stunning in person. Everytime I see a 992 TT in person my jaw drops and I can't stop looking. Even made a thread about this about a week ago.

With that said I still personally prefer the 991.2 appearance inside and out. Inside by a long margin. My personal opinion is that the 991 wins the timeless design over the two. Other than that I'm sure the 992 is better in nearly every single way due to evolution.

My biggest issue with the 992 is the rear of the car... BUT, the TT solves that. In no way shape or form is the 992 TT rear ugly or lacking like it's "narrow" counterparts like the Carrera or GT3. The true widebody with massive hips solve that... It's seriously hot! IMO Porsche designed the TT first and dumbed it down to Carrera levels.

def agree with this. When I saw a 992 TTS, I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was. I stared at every angle of the car, spent 30 minutes just staring.

I was never a fan of rear of the the 991 TT.

992 revamped the rear and now it’s lights out.

I have both sitting in my garage, I never thought Porsche's were good looking. I wrote a LONG article that will be released sometime soon I am told, on the good and bad of both. What I have found in the cars I own, 2014 tts, 2017 tts, 2019 GT2 rs, 2021 tts, is the 991's look smaller and sleeker, but the 992 drives like it's smaller

All in all I like both...certain colors make the 991.2 TTS still look great (I prefer chalk)...but the new car in Gentian or Chalk or Shark would also be awesome.

However I like the looks of the 992 GT3 better.

Had all three versions in the garage and by my experience I see it this way: 992 > 991.2 > 991.1

Had three versions of the 991 - so obviously I liked the look and design. My 991.2 TT was stunning IMO,.....but for the most part the 992 is a better looking car, especially in TT/TTS guise. The rear of the 991.x was due for a refresh as it was starting to look a bit dated - the 992 is much better in this respect. There are some design aspects of the 992 that aren't my favorite though. The really square looking lower portion of the front - and the hockey stick blades are not the best IMO - I think Porsche could have done a better job here. The rear valence in cheap looking black plastic - unless at least $3k or more options are chosen is pretty ludicrous. There should be the same option to paint the lower valence as there has been for many years. I truly believe Porsche knows this - but simply want people to splurge on the high $$$ options to not make it look cheap. But how many out there would have chosen a $750 option to either paint it body color or gloss black? - lots I presume. The fake exhaust ports are a detriment - but of course everyone is doing those now to save money, but my previous TT looked so much better in this respect.

On the whole though, the 992 TT/TTS does look better and updated, but not perfect.

Well fortunately, the title of the thread is considerably more alarming than your first message Fixinbones !!!

There is something rather hard (and completely unjustifiable) in the title. Who can seriously deny that the more modern design of the 992 put the lovely 991 in the shade right from the start In my experience (I am expecting my fourteenth 911, my first one bought in 1972) I have owned almost every generation of 911, at the time of its production. And the improvements have been regular and permanent, both in style and in performance; in terms of Turbos, I have had 997TT, 991TTS and 992TTS. And as anybody would expect, the 992 TTS is a clear improvement over its predecessor. In every way.

And I was very relieved to read your first message, which is moderate, compared with the Title !
