My PTS Taycan turbo s just arrived this week. It’s tricky as your dealer needs both (a) an allocation but also (b) an allocation in a PTS month. There are only two PTS months each year. I believe June and December. My original allocation was for November 2021 and the dealer had to get the allocation approved to be moved to December. Then pts had to be approved again. It locked quickly thereafter and you can see the car in the Taycan section. voodoo blue.
So PTS remains a bit of a mystery. My PTS Turbo S is set for July production. It did lock quickly. TYD says lock is end April, dealer tracking info says PAG no changes- no matter as my spec was done based on dealer stating spec it and don’t touch it while we waited for approval. Was also told on Turbos at the moment no PTS being accepted. Don’t know why or for how long.
Sadly, as nice as PTS is, it is a rather significant PITA. It generally delays production. Fortunately today, Porsche actually publishes the list of “PTS” which is more Paint To Our List colors. True PTS colors are much more problematic. Me? I’m very happy I was able to get my third choice of color many, years ago. A pain, but worth it in the end.

PTS lock happens before the listed lock date. PTS lock supercedes the “normal” lock date. That’s why it’s advisable to have your configuration 100% before submitting your PTS color request. Once PTS is formally approved, Porsche immediately locks the build.

Actually, I had my PTS approved in November and then my PTS full configuration lock date was 2/14, so I had a few months. But TYD still shows my lock date is a few months away, which is entirely false.
Of course with all the world events that are occurring right now I'm relatively certain my car won't be ready until months after the projected delivery date of August.

It's the unpredictability though. Several people, myself included, had our configurations lock immediately upon PTS approval.
That's why I think it's advisable to make sure you can be happy with the config when you send in your PTS request. In other words - load that sucker up because you may not get the chance to do so later. Definitely don't send some skeleton build with the idea that you can flesh it out later.

I'm never happy with my configuration until the car is in my driveway; then I stop obsessing over it
PTS is the way to go if the wallet and allocation allow it. You'll get your money back over the term of ownership and potentially at resale as my belief is demand is always stronger with PTS units. A couple links I used to make my selection of Gulf Blue.
