Chalk is clearly a more understated look.
Carmine is not a metallic but a solid like Guards Red - both are great colors for any 911.....but here shown on a a couple of GT4s (either look great on any Porsche sports car)

I've taken a look at Carmine. I was actually originally planning to order my 4S in Carmine, until I saw it at the dealership on a Macan (indoors in showroom) and Panamera (outdoors) and in both cases was underwhelmed. It's not metallic, but I wish it was. I found it to be too flat.

The other problem with Carmine is I want to order deviated stitching to break up the cabin a bit, and Carmine stitching is an expensive CXX option and my OCD would not be happy with Guards stitching with Carmine exterior.

I've had 2 Carmine 911s - in both I had Guards red seat belts / one with GR stitching - it matches quite well pretty hard to tell any difference....this is a GR belt with Carmine. Carmine may just not be your color though...

Thanks Rocketboy.

One thing I was considering -- would it be weird to do full GT Silver deviated stitching with a Carmine Red (or GR) exterior? I like the deviated stitching to break up the black interior (and am not a fan of the two-tone ones), but I worry all the red stitching might be too much / over the top. But Silver stitching wouldn't tie to anything (other than wheels, badges, etc)

I stand corrected.

I guess I had not seen a Rossa corsa Ferrari side by side to a CR TTS. Just in different points in time, and they just seemed similar in my mind.

what defines a metallic paint ? I have a jet black cayenne and thay I know is metallic. Is the flake you see?

I guess what I meant is the carmine red finish just looked a little bit more glossy then GR

Should look great - I'm doing Shark Blue with SportTex seats and GT Silver stitching / silver grey seat belts. You definitely don't have to do red stitching in a red car. I've seen some great combos for red - black interior, beige seat centers with beige stitching, simple black with just red seat belts is great, two-tone black/beige,....that is what is great about Porsche - and most frustrating sometimes, all the choices. We've all been there.

Yes - metallic paint has metallic flake in it. Guards and Carmine don't have this so they are considered "solids" (I guess you can call it that).
Guards is definitely the brighter color - in sunlight it simply is "brighter". Carmine is more of a rich, darker shade. They both shine the same, guards is just a brighter hue of red.

I have a Chalk 992 TTS. The only reason I didn't order it in Carmine Red was that my 992CS was the same color and I wanted to feel like I had a "new" car. I wish I'd gone with Carmine Red. It's spectacular. Guards Red is to orange to my tastes. That's my two cents, but follow your gut. All the best.

I have 2 chalk cars, but love guards red on a 911. Both would look great and I think both will age well (see 356's in Herron grey). What I love about GR is you can keep the car very low optioned and it still looks great.

(I have a TTS cab on order in shark blue)

First of all, I love red on 911’s. I’ve owned a Targa 4s in GR, a TT in CR and have a TTS on order in CR.

I was going to get silver on my first Porsche because I thought red was “too flashy” until I saw my Targa 4 S in Guards Red and fell in love with it and haven’t regretted it since. I went with Carmine Red with my 2018 Turbo and has the Guards Red deviated stitching, seat belts, and sport chrono and thought that they were gorgeous on the black interior.

love the red but it’s a personal choice
good luck and you can’t go wrong. A 911 in any color is still a great car

If I go Guards Red and want black interior with full deviated stitching, would you go chalk, GT silver, or Pebble Grey to tie in with the Carbon Fober interior trim? I don’t love the red stitching as it looks too “porno” or something for my taste.

I don’t know what it is with GR, I love the way it looks on other people’s cars and in photos, but don’t feel like I’m a “red car guy” for some reason….
