The person who owned my car before me traded it in for a R8 plus spider. I heard through mutual acquaintances that he missed the 911 TTS and sold the R8 and got an SUV. He apparently said he missed the 911 as it was able to slip in and out of traffic easier. Maybe due to the 4 wheel steering.

There are two main reasons that I am trading it for the Porsche. One is the amount of attention it gets. It gets more "supercar" treatment at stoplights which makes me uncomfortable especially with the top down in the city. Most people don't know the difference between a base 997 Carrera and a 992 TTS, so you get less attention in the Porsche. The second reason is the complete lack of storage. There is zero space behind the seats of the R8 and the trunk is smaller than the Porsche's. I have owned several 911s in my life and can tell you that the space behind the seats has been dearly missed with the R8. I realize that these are fairly lame "practical" issues - but I like to drive my fun car as much as possible.

I have both as well. Two totally different animals. Looks and stares in the R8 are intense. All walks of life. High rev beast and the sounds that are 2x of the TTS. Wider and shorter. Best front and back end visuals IMO. Side not as much.

TTS is faster and less attention. Turbo vibe but more torque. Newer but rarely can the Joe public know the model year or the difference between the TTS and 911.

It’s really interesting to read through this. I’m from Switzerland, I am selling a 488 coupé and ordered a 992 TTS cab. For me it’s a matter of practicality: I drove the 488 only once in 2020 and zero in 2021 (so even under original charger it threw some very Italian electric system warning in front of the dealer, right after the annual check It’s a fun car but not very usable here due to sudden weather changes, drop in temperatures and the many mountains around. I hope to use the 992 all year around.
it’s fun to read about the level of attention, stares and looks in the street for R8s, huracans etc. it’s really different here, there are so many lambos, Ferrari (just a dozen of them, pre owned, permanently parked day and night on the street in front of the official dealer of this small village) , countless 911 that almost nobody really cares at all.

The 992TTS is a mega car, but I found I wanted a little more from it aside from the speed than what the value proposition was offering, so I actually just sold mine for a new Huracán Evo RWD...it's definitely a different vibe, but it's got an excitement level the TTS didn't really get near, and it's the exact same price point...maybe I'm going through a life crisis 😂.

2 totally different cars like my F8, different purposes for them. Not really comparable, one’s a daily driver the other a special occasion type of car that gets a ton of attention.

Congrats

If I had to choose between these two, I'd skip the R8 and get a Huracan RWD. I've had two Huracans (610 and Performante) and test drove the R8. The R8 is boring in comparison. I'm about 6 weeks away from taking delivery of my 992 TS, but I'm going into it knowing it's a comfortable grand touring car that can also carry my wife and small kids. I have a more raw car for the track/mountain driving.
