Default May jump from 991.2 to 992 TTS - input please!

OK you wild 992 Turbo owners...you BEASTS - I need your input. May get on a list soon for a 992 TTS to be delivered late this year/early next. May do a pre-trade of my precious chalk baby. Need your inputs from folks who had a 991.2 TTS and stepped up. What do you like about the change? What do you not like? I can get a 992 4S allocation but prefer to stay Turbo.

I was at the dealer today and sat in a 992 C4S...love the lower driving position, gauge cluster, center console except the nubbin which is a joke. Love the updated fenders. I think the 992 turbos look even more amazing.

Is the driving position just as low in the Turbo? I notice in my 991.2 the seat is up a little higher relative to the car body.

At lowest seating position slightly higher than my18 TTS…took delivery 992 TTS 3 weeks ago and could not be happier…yeah I got the taller aluminum shifter and I like it…the spasm/the sports exhaust/gear box…significant upgrade in my opinion to 991.2…good luck getting an allocation !!!!

the seating position is HIGHER than 991.2 ? At least in the 992 C4S it seemed lower...maybe it's an illusion?

I haven't noticed any substantial difference in the seating position from my 991.2 TTS to the 992 TTS. My five-foot-two wife logged 1000s of miles behind the wheel of my prior 991s (both the C4S and the TTS) and the first time she drove the 992 she complained that she couldn't raise the seat any higher, so maybe there is a difference? I haven't measured.

What do I dislike about the 992 compared to the 991? Just some minor stuff: I dislike the lack of a 12v socket in the console, the super-slow-to-boot-up PCM, the lack of physical buttons for stuff like auto start/stop and homelink, poor visibility of the outermost gauges (primarily the boost gauge), the lack of guards on the back of the rear seats that help keep your bags from sliding forward with the rear seats down, and most of all the nubbin shifter that forces you look at the dash to just see whether you're in reverse or drive. So, nothing really major - overall it's definitely an upgrade, especially the steering and suspension, the new tech features like night vision assist and surround view, and, finally, just having SPASM and PSE available on the TTS alone makes up for any of my dislikes.

I went from a 2015 991.1 to a 2018 991.2 to a 2021 992 Turbo S. Each one is better than the next. The 992 is far superior performance wise and the fit and finish/electronics are vastly improved(except the trickle charger issue)

Is there a dedicated button for the spoiler or can you assign the diamond button to that? Or do you have to dive through the PCM?

There is no button nor can you assign it to a diamond key. I set it as my “individual mode where you can set the sport exhaust and spoiler

I went from the 991.2 to the 992. Couldn't be happier. It's mostly a learning curve how to operate certain things but you soon get comfortable with the electronics. I still haven't learned about everything in the two months I've had mine, but I still learning things on my smart phone! Performance improvements are noticeable, the sound is much better even with standard exhaust. It's a step up even when you thought that would be impossible.

Ugh. So dumb. It's not like they don't have tons of room with all the black plastic on the console. I don't understand this war against buttons.

Multiple consumer studies show that younger buyers equate buttons = "old, unsophisticated, Boomer technology". Tesla pioneered in this area by giving you a car that literally has no physical buttons whatsoever in the MOdel 3.

Now, any UI designer will tell you that this is a stupid and even dangerous engineering decision. And already some manufacturers are starting to realize that just because a customer says he wants something doesn't mean it's actually a good thing.

Compare, for example, the interior of the Taycan with its Audi cousin, the E-tron:

Porsche decided to emulate the Tesla "no-button" style, while the Audi has buttons galore - HVAC, driving modes, suspension setup, etc

Went from a 991.2 Turbo S to a 992 Turbo S. It just feels like a much more modern car, and even more upscale. The interior styling, the infotainment that doesn't feel outdated, those were the big reasons I got it. After that, I got sport exhaust which wasn't an option from the factory for the 991.2, which I think sounds good. I haven't really been able to give it hell yet because I'm still breaking it in, but so far the performance is still top notch. I don't regret my upgrade.

After you start the car immediately turn it into sport mode and the auto stop doesn’t operate in that mode. Sounds a lot better too.
