Default "Motorsport Stripe Decal"

For those of you who opted for the "Motorsport Stripe Decal" (racing stripe), I have a question. Is it applied on top of, or under the clear coat? I assume the latter but would appreciate confirmation one way or the other. I'm tempted to order it but have never seen one. I'm also curious to know what people think about the look in general. (See the poll at the top.) Have it and love it, or now wish you didn't? Like it but wouldn't order it for yourself? Hate it?

EDIT- I agree, perhaps "hate" is too strong a term. For the purposes of the poll, let's assume that choice covers the whole range of negative reactions from "I don't care for it" to worse. Thanks.

Though "hate it" is a bit strong, it's not for me.
It will be applied onto the clear coat, same as all other factory applied side stripes and model decals.

Dislike may have been better, but had to go with hate, I paint things if I want stripes, but I'm not normal

Thanks for this! So I take it the stripe can be removed after the fact. Makes sense.

Depending upon how he car is configured I love the stripe.

I went for the "official" lettering on the doors... more discreet whilst identifying the car. (in the 992-specific lettering).... and then the car's colour-linked name "Midnight".

This is what I did and prefer it much more than the stripe.

Decal can definitely work... Like it best when it extends from fender to fender rather than ending at the door. That could be tricky given the foil and flares of the rear.

Also... Colour should match the wheels or the caliper IMHO

Agreed, I had to go through Exclusive Manufaktur to have them factory installed on my Touring before it became an option.

I'll pop back in here and say I'm surprised the poll suggests most don't care for the look to one degree or another. I would've guessed most like it though only a few would order it for themselves.

I think you may find a correlation between most popular exterior colors and the like for the stripe. I believe that most all the traditionalist TTS owners and buyers are opting for the more traditional and classic colors, i.e., Black, Silver, White. Most all of those will not opt for the stripe and will in all likelihood state their dislike for it. On the other hand, those that have opted for a brighter, more modern or less common color for a TTS, are more likely to order the stripe and state so in your poll. Just my $.02.

I'm sure you're right. The more "conservative" one is in his/her color selection, the more conservative they'll likely be when it comes to these flashier extras. Still, it is a supercar!
