Default What did folks cross-shop?

Curious what people may have cross shopped when looking at the 992 Turbo S. The McLaren GT comes to mind. Huracan maybe?

Since I was looking specifically for a cabriolet -
(no specific order)
1) Ferrari Portofino
2) Aston Martin DB11 Convertible
3) McLaren 720s Spider
4) Bentley Continental GT Convertible
5) Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadsterr
7) F8 Spider
8) SF90 Stradale

Cross-shopped mainly with GT3 Touring, which will supposedly have rear seats. Before that also looked at Portofino, Lusso and Taycan, but dropped those because it turned out for the next 2 years I can only have one sports car now due to space limitations, so the car needs to be trackable, and neither of those three truly is.

If I could have more space, I would likely replace 992 Turbo S with Taycan Turbo S for daily + GT3 RS, 765LT or something else of that type for track/fun. My previous set up was (still is) 991.2 Turbo S daily and 991.2 RS for track and fun drives.

Ditto! I committed to my TTS purchase in mid 2019, and nothing fogged my vision through the debut 9 months later and my allocation a few months after that. I do ponder a world without Porsche, but I think that may be in a galaxy far, far away. Confession - If all I could afford were a C8, I'd consider it with great trepidation. An R8's more like it with an extended budget. Gotta admit I like the "new" NSX. An Aston Martin for sharp understated styling, which is why I appreciate the recent Roma too. But really, exotics are not my thing. My buddy's 4C is a blast, gotta say. Hell, I love my Mk7 Golf R for the price, and I'd get the new one if that were my top budget. Some of the other Audis are cool. RS5 or even the Avant, anyone? But in a world including Porsche, I would buy any 911 or 718 above anything else, all factors considered. Enthusiasts are often turned off by the 4 cylinder 718s, I know, but my folks have a 718 Boxster GTS, and you'll forget the stigma instantly when behind the wheel on a proper canyon road. In closing, if you can afford the 992 TTS, then there is no other choice IMO. But then again, the 992 GT3 is about to be unleashed. Living in flat straight FL made the choice easy for me.

Nothing really hits the niche like the TT/TTS.

The only car I cross shop 911s against are other 911s.

Still debating whether to build my GTR up and adding a 992 Carrera/Panamera GTS or go straight for TTS.

I cross shopped a 911S and decided the additional $$ for a TurboS just wasn't worth it.

So then . . . . my wife spent the difference on a new BMW X5 Hybrid. LOL The BMer is actually a very nice car, so I can't really complain.

Opt for the TTS, ditch the GTR (assuming Nissan), and get something you can take to the bowling alley and park up front... not in a handicapped zone, Dude.

I don't get the hate for the Nissan. Around here where I am (Canada BC) it's rarer than 911s, performance per dollar is very high. Downsides for me is less refined and too high of a driving position, and I personally like the look, it's a similar yet contrasting car to the 911.

I was studying a 911 Carrera S and got sucked into a Turbo S after 3 months.

I've owned a 911 a little over 5 weeks, and already my snobbery is coming out. Please forgive me. I was trying to differentiate the Nissan vs AMG, neither of which I would park up front anywhere. I'm getting a new Bronco as my bowling alley / DUI vehicle. It comes down to 2 cars for me, so I'm going for the dichotomy and not similar/competing rides. I won't cry if my Bronco gets a door ding or is burned to the ground by nihilists.

Sold my 488 - Fantastic car, limited use; Looked at Bentley Continental GT Cab, but decided to buy my 6th 911 instead.
