Bad luck or delivery piece?

I believe that is not a tag but instead a piece of the white plastic wrap that surrounds the upper portion of the cars when they are shipped. I have watched them offload cars at the port in northern CA and they have a door panel piece that velcros to a large shroud. They also have a piece they take off the front so they can see thru the windshield, drive them off the ship and then park them in designated lots (Porsche, Audi, etc.). It is all done by longshoreman. It is kind of fun to watch. Some of the longshoreman try and gun it and blast the radio but of course they can only go 10 mph or so. So when the cover was taken off which left that small white tear of material they forgot the bungee. But with that said, the dealer should have spotted as soon as they put it on the lift, assuming that they did.

On closer look, that definitely looks like the bungee was holding a cover for transit and was torn off instead of taken off.
The fact that it is not loose or entangled reduces the chance that any damage was done. The undercarriage will probably see way worse and I am sure was designed for it.

GTSBoneDoc.... thank you for forcing a French 74 year old (and new 992 Turbo S owner) on his back in my garage... trying to ferret out where MY bungee is
! Can't see any.
Please keep us posted as to the outcome of this extraordinary incident. If you can post a photo fo the Service Manager's red face, at the Porsche Dealer's, we would ALL be grateful, I'm sure...

I'd be taking it back to the dealer TODAY, and demanding an explanation...
I can see a few free oil changes in your future.

Whatever you do, don't misplace the bungee. Replacement cost at your Porsche Dealer will be nearly two hundred dollars, so take good care of it. If you don't put it back on, make sure to store it in a nitrogen filled bag and keep it in the dark at temperatures below 2 degrees Celsius.
