Tracking the 992 Turbo

I do. I find it a bit trickier to interpret on the PSC2 because of the varying tread compound across the tread width. But I am getting decent temperature distribution across the tread aiming for 32psi hot and not exceeding 35psi hot (starting with 26/27psi cold) with an alignment to 991.2 GT3RS specs (-1deg50min camber 0deg8min total toe in front and -2deg50min camber 0deg32min total toe in the rear).

This should be stickied and pinned! Contact pyrometer validated exact cold temps of a specific tire compound yielding exact hot temps with even temp distribution and the specific alignment specs. This is PURE GOLD

Just completed track day. Did half day since it was not my local track and few hours away.
Specs: base 992 turbo non s so steel brakes, PDCC, SPASM, SPORT PLUS, custom forged wheels running 265/325 Cup2 GT2RS spec with about 300 miles on tires, 1500 total miles on car, 26/27 cold pressure on the tires, stock tune, stock alignment, Europipe exhaust and intermediate run group
Observations: Took my time 1st lap to get tires to warm up and then boom. Car is much more capable than my old 991 on track and straight up corner exit is insane and I focused on getting my lines correctly and took my time getting used to 1st track day in the 992. The fast sweepers the car stuck like glue and did not ever fear the car would step out and slow corners is always a challenge as was my old car but I learnt I did better cutting my corner entry speed for slow corners just a little to get car to rotate and foot to the floor once I was pointed straight (I was loosing time carrying way too much speed slow corners since I misjudged my speed. 992 is getting to same corner a lot faster than my old 991and almost made a mistake) Caymans and 992 non turbo was no match really since the speed differential was just too substantial to overcome. I lost count of how many cars I passed and I have base turbo so S is even faster which is insane. Car had way more speed than I could extract and with time and getting used to the car I think I can go even faster which is scary. Only limiting factor was my back hurting from all the Gs No 992 TT/TTS seen track day and my biggest challenge was a tuned 991TTS and straight line he was equal or faster but fast corners I was much faster. 991.2 GT3 was about the same in the corners I think but I was much faster on the straights and the key was getting on the power early after corner exit and if you nail it with AWD and superior traction, you are right behind the car in front and about to pass
I left the track happy and it was worth the 7-8 months wait..

Just came back from a very gratifying day at Mosport (CTMP) in Ontario. Its a fast and sweeping track and not hard on tires or brakes...
TT - stock map, stock fluids, no PDCC, steel brakes on 265/325 MPSC2s. JCR exhaust sounded killer. Kept pressures at 32-35 hot.
Im a casual lapper and it was my first time with the TT in proper conditions...she did not disappoint. Super stable, loads of grip and unsurpassed acceleration on the straights. Steel brakes performed very well with some softness in the peddle after 10 laps. After a good cool down, they came back to usual form and never left me guessing.
No issues hanging with the 991 GT3s but I must say that the 992 GT3s are a different beast. A few more sessions and some better brake fluid...maybe.

There are several possible DOT track tires for those who care about lap times. For the GT2RS sizes, Michelin PSC2R, Dunlop Maxx Race2 & Pirelli P0 Trofeo R, and for the OEM 992 Turbo S sizes Pirelli PZC4, Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport R & Michelin PSC2R track connect. Has anyone done comparisons? Comments on street use for those who do not put their car on/in a trailer? Based on previous remarks and looking at the tire ratings, I would initially assume that any of 3 of the GT2RS tires would be faster than the fastest of the 992 Turbo S tires.
A quick glance at the Hoosier sizes available does not indicate anything that would work, yet I believe someone mentioned using them. Which sizes, and what wheels etc.? I assume that nobody is driving their Turbo S to and from the track on Hoosiers? BTDT years ago on a 930 and while I got there and back it was annoying.
For those who are running smaller diameter wheels, what wheels and tires are you using? Lap time improvements? Street or trailer to and from the track?
I am assuming that, unlike my 996 turbo with non-power seats, nobody is putting tires inside the car to get them to the track.

There are many 19" wheels with room to clear the brakes - many 992 GT3 track guys have found options. Some are running Hankook V200 slicks, I myself will try Hoosier A7 265/325 19" combo when I get my car.

For those that moved up in tire size - I am ordering some 325 Cup 2s for the rear. Question on fitment- should move up to 265 in the front or stick with 255?
Stock ED Centerlock rims.
Thanks

You'd be better off with the 265's for sure. It looks like the upcoming 992 GT3RS is going to come with 275 front/335 rear, and I predict these will fit nicely on the 992 TTS.

If you are only changing the rears, by all means wear down those fronts before getting the matching ones. Be wary, I learned that changing front and rear tires out of synch yields sub-optimal handling behaviour. The PSC2 do heat cycle out relatively fast and changing only the rears will result in more understeer behavior while changing only the front results in more oversteer. I now try to change both front and rear in synch.

Thanks. Ordered 265/325s and a fresh set of factor irons.
@CanAutM3 - do you have an option if the 992 240TWs are a better tire?
Turbo will see 12-16 sessions next weekend so I’ll see how the tires and factory pads wear. I’ll switch back to my original stock pads that have 6k miles and 3 track sessions if I go thru the new pads by the end of the weekend but plan to keep the Cup 2s on for street use assuming some wear left until I switch over to winters in about 6 weeks.

Here are some of my fast laps from Mosport (CTMP) in the TTS.
Car is on Cup2s, has a track alignment (-1.7, -2.6). Also have a full JCR exhaust similar to Bender. The only thing faster than me in street cars has been a 992 GT3 driven with little regard for life.
Lap times should be in the high 1:26s once the driver mods pan out. I think the car is maybe 1 second slower than a 992 GT3 with the same driver. It's an absolute monster with power on corner exit.
The weight does make it understeer and it becomes a handful at the limit unlike the 992 GT3. 991.2 GT3s don't keep up, even with really skilled drivers. This is an absolute weapon on the track and am really enjoying it.
