Default Discounts?

Are any of you guys getting discounts on your orders?
I have a really food relationship with my dealer. I usually see 6-8% off on a car on the lot. But they are being very conservative on these new ones.
may be due to low inventory?

Very glad you started this thread. This is my first Porsche purchase and I am curious to find out if discounts are possible on car with so little allocations available. Reading through various threads, I am reading conflicting info where some members are getting discounts while other are saying it is not possible. I've owned several BMW ///M cars that I had pre-ordered and dealers have always given me some sort of discount. Eager to get more insight from the community here if that is possible on the 992 turbo.

These are still very new - first ones getting delivered to the US just recently. There will be not much discounting at this time - either on the lot or custom order.
Relationship with a dealer will help - but again see above statement.

My standard has always been 3% (or more) before ordering any new 911 variant. So I just won't be ordering now. When the initial rush fades, there will be discounts. I've never seen it any different.
When I'm ready I'll shoot my spec to my dealer (use the same salesman) - and he will pretty much shoot me back the config he will order (just to make sure all is right) - with the 3% discount included.
He's knows I won't order it with anything less, so doesn't bother even toying around. I can wait - it usually isn't too long. Can't wait - less discount, wait long enough and get more than 3%. Personal preference.
Sometimes he will email me when he knows he can get the 3% for me - to see my interest in something new.

I agree. They offered me 1%. I was actually kind of aggravated. I have personally been responsible for them selling 5 cars (referrals and personal) in the last year. Not to mention I have purchased 3 other cars there myself and this is a 244k build.

lol, yeah I know it can be aggravating. It's just business though,....why give a discount when the next guy in line is willing to pay sticker or close to it for the allocations they have. If I'm interested in one of these,...come lets say mid 2021 I'll shoot a note to my dealer and see what happens. He'll make every effort to make it happen. My present Turbo was a build allocation he went and got from his district manager - as he knew I was serious and it was a done deal if it could be had. Works both ways to - for this same car I pinged another dealer and they would not budge form 1.5% at the time, so I said no and walked. They called me back about a week later and offered me the 3% - but by that time I had ordered from my first dealer - so they missed out for 1.5% diff,...too bad for them.

$244,000 car. 1.5% discount equals $3660 (plus tax, let's round it to 4K). Does a $4K discount (1.5%) vs. $8K discount (3%) really affect your decision on whether you buy a quarter million dollar car? Not that I like overpaying either, but if I really wanted the car, the extra $4K would not deter me from buying it. Just wondering what others are thinking....

Yup about 1% - rounding discount really... after having bought 5 cars from this dealership.

With our 10% auto sales tax in the Seattle area....a 1% discount makes me pause on being a "1st responder"

Its the principle of the matter! No that amount won’t change my life. But it would pay for the ceramic treatment and the PPF.
it’s about loyalty both ways.

I think everyone has their financial comfort point - whether they have the money or not. For me I'd be looking at a moderately optioned Turbo for about $190K - there is no way I'd spend $244K for one of these - just wouldn't do it - not worth it to me, I could, but don't want to. Being that Porsche is still one of the most profitable car manufactures - per car,....with the 911 I believe being their top profit maker - I have no problem asking for and waiting for a bigger discount.

I really want the car, so 1% or 5% doesn't make a difference to me... do I prefer 5? of course, but I bought with 1%... even at 0%.

In some cases discounts are hidden by a generous trade allowance or conversely made look great by a lowball trade $$....... as reflected by the net differential actually paid.

Good point - always prefer a better trade-in value as there are tax advantages at least in my state - always consider the balance between discount & trade.
