Default Curious....

If you were to have two in the garage....the constant being a 991.2 Touring....would you opt for it to be a 992 TTS OR 992 Targa? I did opt for the Targa after some deliberation for a variety of reasons (Styling - unique platform - grand touring character - cost) but curious as to if you would have made the same decision and why. Surprisingly-or maybe not - the cost our fully optioned Targa - was not all that different than a properly optioned TTS.

Properly optioned is a funny term, my 17 tts was "properly optioned" , and my 21' is too, I guess I got lost on the option list on this one cause it a hell of a lot more than my last one. Going to have two tts's in the garage, next to the gt2. Had a 1969 911 S Targa since new in the family, under 10k miles, until it was just worth too much money to hold on too. Love my tts for a daily driver, it does everything very well, and the owners I know that have received their 992 tts's are very pleased, I hope I will be too

You made a good choice. Targa.

If it were within my pay grade, it's a 2 car no brainer...... I'd keep my GT3 Touring and add a 992 TTS. Cream of the crop in both categories IMO.
From what is available to watch and read, I am hoping this new 992 TTS scratches the itch that, IMO, all 991 Turbos fell short on and were numb to. In fact I bet my GT3 Touring on it..... by ordering a TTS coupe.
Did you order the Heritage Design Targa 4S?

If the Targa you specced out is within 10K of a your TTS (I could not get there unless I chose a heritage unit), I would take the TTS. Performance is night and day unless you are going to store that targa for 30 years and not drive it (which IMHO, there are better places to put your money).

I'd pick a 992 TTS Cab for the full open top experience.

im still 6 months away from buying another car but I optioned them out last week out of curiosity, boredom and because its fun

Targe 4s came out around $168k
Turbo cab around $206k
Turbo S cab around $236k

Obviously you can option these out way more for much higher prices but this is what my true builds came to.
Note: none optioned with ceramic brakes

precisely...my builds - targa to tts - there was a $ 40k (CDN) delta...which is not insignificant...and I can’t part with the Touring..

I went with Gt3 RS and Turbo S. Why? No-compromise track weapon and a no-compromise daily driver. I like the look of the Targa (can't say the same for Touring - it seems like it's missing something - but that's a matter of taste), but wanted more power and less weight up top. Luckily I live where I can use the power from time to time in complete safety.

Now that I will not track much anymore, I'll consolidate either in Turbo S or in GT3 if that offers rear seats this time around.

As I said on the GT3 board, get the TTS.

The Targa is such an oddball 911 variant. It's not really a cabriolet, doesn't offer the full top-down driving experience, yet its heavier than a similarly spec'd cabrio.

Tha'ts why the Targa isn't even a Swiss Army knife jack-of-all trades 911. Because it doesn't do any one thing particularly well, or well at all.

So what's the real appeal of it? I suppose the uniqueness of it, and perhaps the better resale value down the road (debatable).

Turbo S comes standard with PCCB's. I'd take a Turbo Cab for only $38K more than a Targa 4S any day of the week. I'd rather have a full cab and 140 more HP - unless you like slower more. I did own a Targa once - albeit a 1985.

Now $68K difference to a TTS Cab is a big difference.

TTS would be what I’d go for since I’m a peculiar coupe with no sunroof kind of enthusiast.

I don't really have anything to add, other than I watched an old Top Gear yesterday. They agreed that convertibles are for women. According to James May, the only suitable convertible for a bloke is a Triumph TR-6.
