Default 992 Turbo S order spec and 991.2 Trade in amount

I traded in my 2017 TTS on Saturday and specced a new 992. I took delivery of my 991.2 in June 2016 (launch car) and logged 29,764 miles in exactly four year of ownership. Between that car and the preceding 991.1 TTS, I put more than 50,000 miles on the 991 generation TTS. I received $120,000 on my trade in and the car was in perfect condition. Although the car was never tracked, the majority of miles were really hard ones as I drove it mostly on 1,300-mile three day trips with my friends in the remote areas of eastern Washington and Oregon. The front brakes were 9/10 which was amazing to me considering the usage. The TTS has just been bullet proof. I also got 4% off of MSRP on the new one.

I initially thought I’d go GT Silver as the last six 911’s I’ve owned have all been white. But there was a 992 GT Silver in the showroom and it seemed a bit dark for my liking while the Dolomite was too blue so I reverted back to white. Attached below is my spec, I wanted to comment on a few of my choices and share a few of my annoyances. Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions as I have some time to change the order which right now is October.

I know Center Locks are a TTS signature but having been stranded twice now, I’m ready for a more usable 5-Lug option and I thought this wheel looked good, especially with the painted black accents. I also opted for Black Leather with Sport Tex centers as I’ve heard a lot of positive reviews and I liked the checkered look with the stitching options ordered in Pebble Grey.

I didn’t get a sunroof as I think the glass option detracts from the lines of the car and I’ve never used a sunroof anyway. Some say that lessens the resale value but I can’t imagine having one would have increased my latest trade in value. I also thought of adding seatbelts in Silver Grey or Chalk but thought it would look too busy with the stitching and Sport Tex. I was planning on Night Vision but I rarely drive at night the dealer suggested that its maybe not the best technology. Its also a shame there is no HUD offered at this price point?!

$1,900 for Leather Seat Backs is appalling like most pricing in the options catalog but think it looks better than the hard plastic. Also checked Brushed Aluminum in the interior as I was tired of the carbon fiber look. Last option comment is on the Sports Exhaust. Wanted to get this as a first time option but really prefer the look of the quads. Went with the Exclusive Pipes as the layered look appears to look more substantial. I will check to see if a quad valence is an option after delivery.

Looks great and you will probably be happy whatever you decide.
I have a CW Turbo S on order too and really cant decide on my full options list yet. I keep going backwards and forwards changing to the black glass sunroof and aerokit black rear spoiler, then going for the carbon roof and mirrors without the black aerokit.
Can't decide on sportex seats yet as I haven't seen them in the flesh, but that is another consideration for me too.
I was also quite keen on Gentian blue as all the photo's of peoples cars on here look fantastic, but when my dealer showed me a Carrera which he said was Gentian I was disappointed.
I like the brushed aluminium trim around the dash and centre console as well, but I also like the carbon trim on the GT steering wheel and sills......Grrrrrr........decisions decisions.

I dig the interior. That all came together nicely, and you're making me rethink my choice of the stopwatch dial in white. Tachometer in white is a must for me. Sometimes it takes somebody else's build to make me rethink my own options.

If I may critique one thing... I too am going with a white variant (chalk). After much scrutinizing, I think I'm settling on the standard exterior mirrors. The one thing that bothers me about the lower mirror housing/trim in a light color, especially white, is the fact that the camera molding and black lens really stand out. IMO it looks anomalous. It's a non issue if you forgo surround view, which I wouldn't consider.

Your wheel choice w/ black looks great. I wasn't a fan on the TTS before seeing them with your configuration.

Is it just me, or did anybody else fall in love with black calipers only after the 3D configurator started erroneously showing yellow calipers in black?

Looks nice I have been really struggling with the exterior color myself. I want the red/black interior so that limits my choices to white, silver and black. I went with GT Silver as I had a 993 turbo with Arctic Silver with Boxster Red interior. Very classy combo.

+1 on No Sunroof (option ZAC) if you aren't a sunroof person.

I did the same thing: I specced the puddle lights and burmester because I was just ticking boxes. I wanted to get the CF mirrors, too, but didn't tick that box. Then my dealership furloughed almost everyone and when I got back in touch my order was locked-in.

I have (oops, had) the Burmester in both of my previous 991.2s and I rarely played music in the 17k + 13k miles I put on each of them. Get it only if you really will listen to it, otherwise it's a waste of $. I've made this mistake 3 times now. Duh. I really wonder WTF am I thinking when I'm on the configurator.

The key thing to remember is that options count for next to nothing when it comes time to trade-in/sell, so pick the ones you really want for yourself.

All is personal preference, there is no right or wrong here.

You are aware that those wheels will be GLOSS BLACK right? I went with the same wheels because I want 5 lugs, but opted not for the gloss black as it will not match anything on the car. You can always powder coat them after in satin black to match better for less.8.0.1

Carrara white metallic is a good color- silver flake from what I could tell. I would probably spec that color on another car in the future. Night blue metallic is also really good looking on a Turbo. Just my 0.02.

Also- Burmester in a Turbo, at least for me is a must have. Night and day difference.

So about $20K (give or take a few) depreciation a year on the 2017 car. And all those miles.....not bad IMO

Great spec as well....
