DME help please!
The dealer claims that the CPO GT3 can't provide readings in the 4/5/6 rev range.
They say that the service department mentioned new cars don't display key DME information to the dealer and that the 3/4/5/6 ranges are only accessible by Porsche during a warranty claim.
Is there any truth to this? Also, can you give me a read on this report?
Thank you

mine had bunch of ignition events adding to about 3 seconds total in range 3 @ purchase (highest range for 992 gt3). upon finding this out, the dealership did the compression & leakdown tests which were flawless and documented them. per porsche NA, this is what's needed to warranty the engine if it were to fail. per the mechanic who does all the gt cars at my dealership, only overrev damage he's seen were variable camshaft components that become immediately evident after the event. in retrospect, this overrev report only added to unnecessary angst as a first time porsche buyer. i had bunch of sports cars, most of them tuned. i bet all of them were overrevved during the course of ownership. i think this whole overrev thing on pcar are bit overblown on BAT which is being perpetuated by its commenters.

As others have said- this is true of the 992 models (at least the GT3/RS). From what I understand, they've been compressed into 3 ranges now, instead of 6. So range 1 and 2 are now in 1, and so on.
That report on that car you posted is great. 114 in range 1 only is probably just a few shifts at redline. Also, if you get only a handful of revs in a range, I think it's less than 10, Porsche considers that within error range and doesn't count it as a true value and zeros it out- its not a perfect science, the report. Furthermore, Porsche indicates 50 hours? (cant recall the number) of use after ignitions in range 3 (the old 5 and 6) to see if things work out.
I recently got a report for a certified car that had some hundreds in range 3. Definitely some cause for pause but like the above poster mentioned, PNA will still warranty it if it checks out- via tests and usually a number of run hours after the "event".
