Default DIY Serpentine Belt and Engine Air Filer replacement

Hi - Just thought I'd check to see if anyone has attempted these services themselves? I think they are due at 24k miles or 4 years (whichever comes first). Would be interested if anyone has screen shots of the workshop manual for these items or if anyone can share their experience and level of difficulty.

Thanks!

Don’t think it ever has been, but looks a little complicated in 991.

I’ve never removed my rear bumper cover on the 992…

I had the same thought. My 992GT3 is due next year for the belt replacement. I've watched the 991 GT3 videos and agree it doesn't look easy.

Yeah, I’m approaching 23k miles, so want to do belt and filters sometime soon. May just pay to have done at dealer, if I can’t get comfortable with it DIY.

This is not an easy service and also think it requires two people.

It's child's play for someone comfortable to remove a 911 bumper. Doesn't matter,GT3,Carrera S,Turbo...you name it...
I have checked the system and it pays terribly : 2.5 hours for belt and 1 hour for filters. That's lame for a technician. Not to mention that realistically the 1 hour for bumper removal should be included in the 2.5 hours since you're removing the bumper anyway and the air box has to come out in order to access the belt. Maybe 1/2 hour more to remove the screws for the filters...That's 3 hours total for this job...real lame : I wouldn't blame a Porsche technician for not being excited to do this job. Sure,it pays the dealer 275$ X 3 hours = 825$...plus of course some BS shop supplies and some taxes...perhaps 1500$ realistically. However that technician is only making 3 hours at 35 bucks an hour before taxes...lame.
GrantG is easy man...DO IT,no sweat!

pulling the bumper should be no more than 15 minutes - its very easy. The air filter comes off with a few screws. Then you have a cover plate that protects the belt - 4 bolts. Honestly, If you get the car up on a lift, i think you can do the entire job in an hour - 2 tops. 90% of the job is getting access - and maybe the first time you remove the bumper it will take you a bit, but really it comes off very easy. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to do this job . . .

BTW, that exploded diagram shows the bumper disassembled - you don't need to break it down - it removes as one unit.

Do you have that annoying carriage bolt problem from 991 cars in 992 that required prying the engine from the subframe?

Even if you do,the reason people were having trouble with that is because of the weight of the engine which is putting tension on that bolt, especially when trying to re-install it. Suport the engine using a jack(it doesn't need much, just a nudge) and it will come right out/go right back in.
