992 GT3 RS Engine Oil Capacity & Service Fill Quantity
#2
Would expect it’s same as 992 GT3 (but not certain) which has 8.1 liters total, but only requires 4.1 liters on oil and filter change (though can sometimes require as much as 7 liters if oil hot enough and left to drain long enough), so always recommended to drain into graduated container to measure oil removed. I think the design intent was to drain just 4.1 liters…

Anyone know the torque specs on the 2 drain bolts/plugs on a 2024 GT3RS? I asked Suncoast and my local Porsche parts store and neither gave me a response.... gave the usual "that's a technician's job".... also both stores sent me 2 different kits of a combination of drain plug and washers... one store sent me a drain plug and a plastic drain plug and the other sent me two metal ones (each one was different).... seems there's a general lack of experience in the dealer parts departments with the RS and at some point there was a combination of metal and plastic plugs but then it became metal-metal... either way I'm about to find out what my car has soon as I'm about to do an oil change once I figure out what my car has underneath the rear diffuser and the torque specs. Since i have both metal-plastic and metal-metal plugs now, I'll report back what at least the post April '24 build RS's have. With my Porsche store, my car is the first 992 RS they've delivered and the first car to need any service work so even the tech's are inexperienced on these platforms which seemingly have some slight nuance differences from a GT3. .
I've been advised by a Porsche tech to not attempt to drain oil when it's hot for fear of messing up the copper insert threading within the oil tank (this was based on experience with 992 GT3s... Unknown at this point if the GT3RS has the same design with the oil tank where the threads are in a copper sleave so to speak so if the tank/oil is hot, because of metallurgical expansion, it's possible that the copper sleave and spin loose in the tank and not want to release the bolt so to be safe, drain the oil when it's cool and just let it drain for a while. Measure what came out and refill to the previous quantity and ensure the level is at the optimal level based on street or track use using the digital gauge in the dash.

Just completed a 2K mile oil change on my 3RS (built fall 2023).
This thread is really all you need: https://rennlist.com/forums/992-gt3-...n-992-gt3.html
RS is no different underneath. I believe all 3RS have the plastic oil tank plug. I ordered the kit from Suncoast (filter, metal + plastic drain plug).
I drained 4L oil (used measuring cups), only gave it 15 minutes to drain. Plastic oil tank plug has 2 stops to prevent over tightening - it's simple. Torque specs for oil filter and metal sump plug per link above.
