Default Will rear seats be an option on 992.2 GT3 and Touring?

It was a surprise to see that the 992.2 GTS comes with no rear seats by default, probably for weight reasons and Nurburgring lap times. Was wondering if the 992.2 GT3 and or the Touring might get a no cost rear seat option. It probably makes more sense for the Touring to have this option and I’m sure lot of people will spec it even if it’s a paid option.

Ask this again in 2-3 years. No one knows right now.

I hope not. Drive an SUV to haul kids around.

I think that was a genius business strategy so I doubt they'll have it on the GT3.

Some people who buy the GTS won't want the rears. Now by being it an add on option vs standard they save money every time someone passes on it. In the same vein, no reason for them to offer it as a no cost option for the GT3. That'd just cut into the bottom line.

That makes sense.

I’d love Rear Seats in a GT car. My family loves to go for rips together but it’s always 1 at a time. Even rear seats would allow us to all go to the track in 1 car vs a tow vehicle.

Very doubtful.

Porsche marketing removed the seats only to make the weight for the GTS. It’s not because Porsche is making like a Burger King of letting you make your 911 exactly the way you want it.

It is also for cost cutting. The base model Carrera doesn't have the heavy hybrid system but it has no back seats as well.

How is it for cost cutting if you can add them back for free? You think people who want back seats are just accidentally going to forget to click that box?

Well, for those people who don't check the box, Porsche is saving money.

Just like with the new 992.2 GTS, rear seats could only be offered with front Sport Seats, not Carbon Buckets, as they are not homologated for rear passengers.

It would be nice if offered and i think many Touring buyers would spec them.

I'm betting it will not be an option... and if it was, it would also mean you could not option LWBS. Not that that is a big deal but it would be part of the decision with rear seats if Porsche ever (unlikely) had it as an option on a GT car.

Why would you ever want to drive an SUV when a GT3 Touring makes such a great DD? I need back seats for my kids a few times a week, and on those days I have to take one of my other cars. It's a first world problem........ but it's my money .....
