Leaving the GT3 World.....

It's not so nice for taxpayers and city managers.
When one of these first-responders retires, they usually get 90% of the three year average annual salary before they retired.
Hence why a lot of these guys put in a ton of OT right before they retire, so that they can "spike" their numbers for their pension.
They were also cashing out unused vacation and sick leave just before retiring.
In CA, I believe this "practice" of padding one's pension was nullified in a 2013 law that closed loopholes and prevented pension abuse.
The State Supreme Court further upheld this in 2020.

It's one of the reasons why the pension debt liability is a ticking time bomb.

That’s mostly correct. Overtime isn’t pensionable, at least not in every pension plan; my department doesn’t use CALPERS/the general fund. Many/most government agencies in California use CALPERS/the general fund, but California politicians also misuse those funds for whatever new agenda the state conjures up (…which is why my county has its own plan untouchable by the state’s grabby politicians, thus, is more stable/solvent). What IS pensionable is all of the acquired vacation time, holiday time, etc. that we acquire over our careers (…capped), as you’ve mentioned, so when we retire those hours get tacked onto our annual pay at whatever our current salary might be. It’s money we’d get anyway if we just took time off, but unfortunately this career field overworks us and we’ve worked short-handed my entire career. It was like that for the old-timers too.

They clearly don't want to bring attention to themselves.
But I've met a few cops that are Porsche owners (one that is a sergeant and has an older Ferrari) and I report every guy I know with a Montana plate.

Ehhhhh they just do it in other ways with their expensive lifted trucks, big boats out in Havasu, desert toys, etc. It’s all the same money as a would-be GT3 owner would spend, just dispersed and/or allocated differently.
….and stop hatin’ on the Montana plate holders with LLC’s. Hahaha!

this whole thread is about buyers remorse imo. and now you're on a path to correct the remorse (congrats) although it will cost dollars. get the new car, the color, seats and transmission you want and don't look back or think about how you got there. if it were me, i wldnt be on here explaining myself to strangers. im a grown **** man. lol. get what i want and enjoy it. bringing others in just complicates things and creates noise, again just my opinion.

Amen LOL. I posted here when I took delivery of my Touring. I was just posting to say "goodbye for now it was (mostly) great being here". If I wanted this many "opinions" I would have just posted something political on Facebook. To those who enjoy (and have the time) to dissect the psychology behind my shocking decision here - I'll look for you on Facebook!. Peace and happy motoring.

It's not difficult to understand, maybe he wants a change and he'll probably yearn for another GT car a year from now after driving excessive luxury and weight in an also good AMG car. People do it all the time.

One of the dumber threads on RL.
Thankfully, RL is a small sample size of Porsche owners.
Goodbye GT3 World.
Who knew there was traffic in LA and you rarely can get a GT car above 5500 rpm?
Speccing a new GT3 without LWB's will solve all of the problems.
The traffic will go away with 18 ways ...
Perhaps a GTS would have been a better purchase for you.
