I do see a 35 MPH speed limit sign in one of the pics. Looks like speed may have been a factor. Glad they weren't injured.

Reminds me of the photo and quote in one guy's RL avatar. ("Good tires," mused Bob, casually lighting a cigarette, "but certainly not great tires.")

That could've been tragic. Always a silver lining.

I was told it was a 26 year old that paid $450k and had the car for a total of 2 hours before this happened. I thought I was having a bad day dealing with some deck rot, but this guy has me beat by far.

Depends on the policy and the insurance. I use Hagerty for my NSX-R (hard to insure because its JDM and only 10 in the US so getting appraisal isn't easy), 675LT and S2000 as they fall into the classic/collector realm and you name a stated value to Hagerty and they will insure to that. Of course, your premium will vary based on that. Before I went to Hagerty - State Farm said no to stated value and only wanted to determine their own value when something happened. Then, you're subject to what they think it's worth and their appraisers think it's worth. You can take them to court for it I guess.

Who knows, maybe family money, tech, real estate or just borrowed to be the next social media idiot. Your guess is as good as mine. Nothing that a little paint pen and buff can't fix

Glad to hear the driver wasn’t injured.
Next owner can always list it as…one owner with no track time, minimal street time, smoked but never smoked in.
