Default 2024 992 GT3 lost all power

Driving 3 month old 992 GT3 Touring 6speed on New Years Day, downshifted from 3rd to 2nd 4000rpm and car lost all electrical and engine power, as if someone shut off a switch, it was that instant and complete. Could not restart because all electrical power to the car remained off. Attempted to jump start it, but motor would not turn over until the Porsche Tech hooked up 2 jump pacs. It then started for a minute but had a rattling sound coming from motor. Car has exactly 1000 miles on it, has yet to see 7500 rpm and has not been abused in anyway. Anyone out there experience anything like this?

Sounds like a blown engine to me. I'm guessing this will turn into a Germany/major warranty thingy.

Sorry to hear that this happened!

Sure sounds a lot like a "money shift" DME will tell all.

Sounds like early major component failure(engine or transmission). Happens to all manufacturers, doesn't mean it necessarily has to turn into a pattern failure...

Would that occur with a downshift at 4000 RPM as he stated?

No. But people make mistakes and misremember things all the time. The other day, I departed in my Carrera and a block down the road, heard this thumping on the side of the door. It was my battery tender. It's destroyed now. lol.

But like @inverterman said, the DME report will rule that out (or in)

Default Its impossible to not remember EVERYTHING that happens when your GT3 looses all power

Hello and ty for the replies. I should have been more clear about 4000rpm. 4000 rpm was what the tach read when i downshifted from 3rd to 2nd. I was driving a track I have by my work, not pushing car at all, trying different lines through a slow hairpin, when everything shut down. I believe someone said here, you cant hide from the DME which is true, and I dont blame anyone who thinks I may have caused this,, but I honestly dont abuse my cars. While misshifts can also happen, that is not the case here .My wife and I also have a 981 GT4 since new that now has 39k trouble free miles. IThe porsche tech put 2 jump starter pack on battery and it started up then died. That was last night. I will post more info when I know more.

Question, if the motor had blown, i beleive the car would still have electric power to the dash at least, correct? The electricity and the motor shut down at sametime and there was no mechanical lock up like a catastrophic failure.

Maybe just a computer / electrical glitch? If the engine was blown you would have heard something which does not seem to be the case. Also, at 4K rpm's you have a lot of room for error. I hope you get your issue resolved quickly.
