Default A Trevi Fountain Wish...A GT3 Allocation (True Story)

This was such an unbelievable true story that I felt I must document and continue as the build journey continues. Long story short, I got a GT3 allocation! Huge shoutout to my dealer (name I will not provide due to privacy) for treating me as an enthusiast and a person.

I was on vacation in Italy visiting Milan, Rome, Florence and finally ending in Ravello for a wedding. While we were in Rome, of course we had to visit the Trevi Fountain. And I cheekily wished for a GT3 allocation . Well, the Roman Gods have answered. The next day, we were at dinner at Tonnarello (fantastic ambience and food) and I get this call from the city where my dealer is located. I looked at it puzzled and confused, but since I was at dinner, I did not answer. A few seconds later, I got a voicemail and with the ability of text to speech, I read the words "an extra car from our rep, not a touring, but its just...[indiscernible]...if you want it. I knew my SA knows my dream car is a GT3 Touring, but a GT3 is not a bad consolidation prize .

I immediately told my wife I needed to excuse myself and take an urgent call. My wife literally asked if everything was ok and if someone died, I guess my expression was of shock! All I recall saying was everything was fine, but it is serious LOL. Luckily for Verizon's international plan, I called my dealer and he quickly gave me the rundown...short answer is there is a GT3 allocation available, if I so desire. The rest of what he said was a blur because...shock. Keep in mind, I am not a Porsche VIP...

I am just an enthusiast who loves the brand and the amazing cars Porsche builds. I did buy a previous car from this dealer, so I was not an absolute stranger. But I think the dealer knows I have an appreciation, I drive my cars and I actually use it on roadtrips. My love for the GT3 actually started when I was much much younger with the 996 GT3. I thought it was absolutely amazing and loved every generation that came after it, with the 997, 991 and 992. It has always been a goal of mine to own a GT3 at some point in my life and that is the one car I have lusted endlessly. When the 991 Touring came out, I thought Porsche made it even cooler and this was the ultimate iteration. But the winged car was the original and I would take that in a heartbeat.

I joked with my wife saying maybe I should have been a little more specific at the Fountain and said "GT3 Touring" . But I kid! I am so fortunate to be given the opportunity to spec / own this car. In fact, after my inaudible agreement to take this vehicle, I had to call my dealer back just to confirm it was for MSRP! Even if the GT3 is my dream, I was not willing to pay ADM as this is just silly. But my dealer honored the pricing and got the commission number and all.

A huge shoutout to dealers who treat you like human and share the passion, instead of short-term profits. This dealer has my full support and when I want to buy a Macan or Cayenne, they will be my choice. What was so important was they understood my desire for this car. They didn't promise anything mind you. In fact, they said it would probably be very difficult. But they took me into consideration and I didn't have to buy 5 Porsches to get an allocation. However, now I may just buy 5 because of their honestly and dedication Haha

Without further ado, here is my proposed build: PRXP2VL7

Unfortunately, the GT3 neodyme decal on the side is on stop order, so my car will not have this. I plan to take LA delivery since ED is not available. But LA and California has so many great roads and the PCA up to SF has been on my bucket list. In fact, I also plan to drive all the way back to the East Coast. This thread will be updated throughout with my build progress and delivery experience.

It’s funny to hear people wishing they received a touring allocation instead of a winged version. I got a touring and would have rather had a winged version. However, now that my arctic grey touring is at the port I’m not complaining. 😀

Haha I’m not upset, I guess the grass is always greener. Any iteration of a GT3 is spectacular.

Congrats! The only things I would consider adding:

1. Exc. gas cap
2. Fire Ext.
3. Ambient lighting.

Combined under $1k I think.

Thanks for the suggestion! May consider the gas cap as something fun during a fill up.

I got ambient lighting on my Targa and I just don’t change the color, so that was a lesson learned lol.
