992 GT3: PDK or Manual?
I have a buildable GT3 allocation. The car will mainly be a track car, so I'd normally be thinking go with PDK, but I'm wondering if manual would make the car fun enough as a road car to justify getting manual. I did about a 100-150 track days in manual cars, but then got a PDK GT3 and developed a strong preference for PDK on the track. Would appreciate thoughts on this from people who have experience with the PDK and manual versions of the car, ideally on both track and road.

It’s such a versatile box with rev matching and no-lift shift options it can be used almost like a PDK (but can also be used like a traditional old-school manual). Even relatively easy to use in traffic, since clutch is light.
And it’s 37 pounds lighter and delivers around 10hp more to the wheels.
PDK’s only real advantage (for my proclivities) is the additional gear making for a tighter stack.

I’m not really an unbiased user, but love the Manual on both road and track.

While it’s possible to money shift this car, I think you’d have to be pretty absentminded or distracted.

Vote for the manual for the reasons stated above (moar 'fun', lighter, modernized [e.g. no-lift-shift & rev matching] yet analogue feel, enjoy your other PDK cars alongside it).
FWIW, a 991.2 Touring sold on BaT last week with range 4,5, and 6 figures (i.e. north of 10,500 RPM shifts), so it took more than one miss and she still is on one piece... Seems you have experience so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Yeah PDK-S is pretty awesome but honestly not as engaging and fun; when on full song though nothing comes close to the exhilaration of the PDK-S executing perfect up and downshift but for overall enjoyment in all conditions, would go with a manual.
If the 991.2 GT3RS came with manual, I wouldn't have an extra GT3 touring to fill that void of manual involvement with that glorious 4L GT3 engine.
Only issue is the no-lift shift and rev-match software programming also interfere with the conventional heel and toe even when in non-sport mode. So that's the only downside to the manual in the GT3.

I Had the same dilemma but I decided to get a manual because you will find many other Pdk GT cars in the future if they discontinue manuals.
almost a year of ownership and I do not regret picking the manual even on track it's plenty of fun and playful on the road.

This question has been asked and answered at least a thousand times.....and there is no 'right' answer. My opinion for the 992 GT3 is that a manual just slows things down.....and PDK just seems to 'fit' the rest of the tech and car PERFECTLY.
Of course, if I didn't have a 991 Speedster......I probably would've gone Manual on the 992 GT3. Since I wanted to experience BOTH....I opted for PDK for the 992.
To my taste, and driving experiences, the 6 Spd Speedster is the ultimate GT Road Porsche that one could track with NO issues....and the 992 is more track focused, hence another reason for the PDK.
These are simply my opinions and experiences. Everyone is different. I guess the best advice...is: is you have a PDK car....go 6 Spd. and vice versa.

If you have something else in your garage with a manual, get the PDK. If not, consider the manual. I admittedly only have experience with the 991.2 GT3, but I strongly prefer the immediacy, and granularity, of the PDK on track, especially given the high-revving engine with all the power up top.

I have tracked my 992 gt3 with manual and enjoyed it quite thoroughly. even going on the track once a month you likely still will drive it on the street more. it's so fun! If I could have ordered the RS with a manual box I would have!
