Yeah, I don't disagree.
But one thing that PAG has as its advantage is that no one (except maybe Lambo, another VW brethren) really cares about "official manufacturer" Ring times. Not Mclaren, and certainly not Ferrari.
So when Porsche builds a GT car to a specific Ring time (and make no mistake they absolutely do), they can have their own Werks drivers run the Ring times, ensuring a pristine lap and a headline grabbing Ring time.
While other marques may have their cars run on the Ring -- it's usually by a indie 3d party or some journalist with no official brand support so it's always going to be slower.

Lotus is another example I heard this year they taking Evija to ring aiming for the lap record, also heard AMG want to do another lap with AMG One this year, the new ZR1 definitely will go for lap record when it comes out in a year or 2, Mclaren I personally don't think they have the money yet to do it.
If you ask me I don't think GT2RS will beat lap time as I expect current AMG One lap time will be beaten anyway by either same car or competition like Evija, and when that happens Porsche will come up with driving experience focused car than just lap times, that's what Ferrari did and succeeded when McLaren beat it's performance, 458 became a benchmark despite losing.
And that's where my powertrain speculation came from, competition is just hard performance wise, they pushing 200-300hp jumps due to Hybrid tech, yes if Porsche aim for lap record they will do it as they never failed us but will they aim for it this time? Let's see, I smell a Hypercar for that.

MB sort of pays lip service to it, and BMW hasn't really put out an official Ring time that anyone pays attention to, even the M4CSL (the last official Ring time put out by BMWAG) was sort of yawned at.

Maybe, but no other German marque -- not MB, not BMW -- really is as myopically focused on the Ring as Porsche is.

BTW, the latest track test of the new 992 GT3 RS shows it's as fast as the GT2 RS with 175hp less (and far less torque). Imagine it with a few hundred more HP and TQ:

New GT3RS already beat GT2RS (non MR) on Ring, the downforce difference made a big difference, and we might see new Tropheo RS tyres on MR variant of it which might make it even beat GT2RS MR as well, so new GT2RS definitely capable of beating current lap time but I don't think the current lap time will be the one to beat when it's launched.
