Porsche Battery Charger
Well, I have a stupid question about the Porsche Battery Charger.
The charger is in the 12V by passenger footwell.
I thought I followed the directions.
I selected the mode of Li-Ion assuming this is the right mode? After a few minutes the Li-Ion light goes out and the green light just blinks.
None of the top lights ever come on to say the battery is ready.
I am sure this is something silly.

Battery Charger - Update
Thanks for the link! I had looked it in the past, and did not realize it has the answer to my issue. Now, I see the top light on.
The question is will it work over time or will I have to hard-wire to battery? Seems like it works for some people and not others. Meaning the charger shuts off. I am guessing I will find out soon.
I turned to car for two minutes and followed the steps below. I guess this does NOT work if the car has been sitting for any amount of time.
---------------------------
The car needs to have been recently running or driven. Don't do from a static state. If the car has been sitting for more than 30 minutes, just turn it on for a minute, then turn off.
1) With the proper Porsche lithium battery maintainer unplugged from the wall
2) Plug into the cigarette lighter in the footwell
3) Plug the maintainer into your wall outlet
4) Cycle the mode selector on the batter maintainer to lithium
5) Lock car
6) Done

Battery Charger - Update 2
Well,
Back to original issue with blinking green light and no other battery status. This is really stupid!
I have two other Porsche's on trickle chargers and no issues. I guess I will have to hard-wire to battery.

The 12V won't work consistently with the Porsche OEM charger. A lot of folks say it works with the CTEK lithium charger.
I have my Porsche OEM hardwired and it also doesn't work consistently - it shuts off randomly. Sometimes after a few hours, sometimes after a few days. I check on it once a day and restart it as needed.
It seems like the only way to get reliable trickle charging for the 992 is the CTEK lithium charger.

@ispool Very helpful information. It is pretty sad the battery charger that came with the car does not work properly and I need to get the CTEK which is supposed to be the same thing.........
In reality I probably don't need the charger. The car will probably only sit for a few weeks at a time during the winter. Just figured it is good have it going especially with the cold weather in CT.

I couldn't agree more - mine came free, but it's ridiculous to white-label something that doesn't actually work. We've been dealing with snow storms and really cold weather in the Pacific Northwest, so the tender has become an unfortunate necessity for me.

Porsche Battery Charger - Update!
Well, I hardwired a cable directly to the battery and created a holder for that part of attaches to the battery charger.
So far the charging seems to work as intended. Just need to remember to put on the protective rubber cap so everything is sealed when I take the car out
- Hardwire to battery. The negative (black) is directly connected to the battery terminal

CTEK (56-260) Comfort Connect 1/4" Eyelet for M6 Smaller Batteries
- Extension cable -- Really only used this to convert the end connection to plug into a 12v cig adapter for Porsche charger. Most of cable rolled up and zip tied
CTEK (56-304) Comfort Connect Extension Cable, 8.2 Feet
- Connection to convert to Cig Socket for Porsche charger -- bought on Ebay.
CTEK 56-573 Comfort Connect Cig Socket
- Adjustable cable holder with adhesive. Got the idea from other Rennlister, but without having to punch through plastic.

The one thing Porsche could learn from Ferrari is how Ferrari Battery Tender has a magnetic plug's that attaches at the rear bumper near the license plate.

For what it's worth, I finally cranked my car yesterday after 8+ weeks sitting and it turned right over. So while my Porsche branded CTEK randomly shuts down after charging the battery, it does seem to be working. I just think having to check on the tender every few days is a little absurd.
This time, I put the tender on within a few minutes after shutting the car off. I'll update this post if the battery tender actually stays on after several days.
