I don’t mean to derail, but how would you guys compare the 992 turbo/s with the 720 and 765?

I owned a 992 Turbo S. The Porsche is an overweight slug by comparison although to be fair, it isn’t in the same segment or price point.

Funny you mention it, when I test drove the 765LT I drove down a tuned 992 Turbo S, and the Turbo did NOT disappoint... Totally different driving experience but I got back in the turbo thinking about how nice and versatile it was compared to the 765. The Turbo S could be daily driven, but def not the Mac, especially because of the change in driving dynamics in Normal/Sport/Sport+. They really make a difference compared to the McLaren, which was also lacking infotainment and didn't even have Apple CarPlay. 765 was basically begging to be beat on and driven hard, and the Turbo S, not so much. Much easier to relax and have a conversation in the Turbo S, but if you wanted to play around you could just spin the **** into Sport + and absolutely rip. Not apples to apples, but both great cars.

The better comp would be the 991 GT2 RS.

I'd still take the 765LT, but at least the GT2 RS would have a real fighting chance.

I had a 992 TTS and rode in a 765LT. The 765 really is on another level. If the TTS is fast, the 765 is insanely fast.

Same guy who ran a 1:42.5 in the 765LT was 5.8 sec slower in a GT2 RS an hour or so after the 765LT run, and ~6 sec delta between 765LT/GT2 RS later in the day. Shows how good the 765LT is on track.

I really love the Mclaren 765lt. Great car and completely destroys everything. It’s mind blowing how fast they are. Also priced great too!

I would take it over new RS.

i would also take the 765LT over a 991GT2RS

lets see what happens with 992GT3RS

comparison with 992GT3RS is not fair. because i would and did take the 992GT3RS - N/A ftw !
i feel better driving a "slow" car fast than a fast car slow.
i want to dominate. with those turbo monsters i can´t. i´m to young and rude for it.

To me the choice is very simple because i live in Italy.

We pay 20 Euros for every KW of power above 185...YEARLY!!!

I love the "only" 510HP of my GT3

Both incredible cars with amazing emotion... but to suggest 765 is not up to a track work is a very ridiculous comment for anybody to make. Now on a point to a point shoot out in back road mountain road then it is quite possible the 2rs could dominate - if placed in leading position - by smallest of margin. But on track the 765 is faster...... unless in hands of expert racer in gt2. The gt3rs put up against a 765 I suspect would be slaughtered on the track unless in hands of professional racer. If placed with tough choice of new 3rs or 765 I will take 765 for varying reasons. 765 also sounds very aggressive and not at all inferior as some may suggest. Each has individual soundtrack to be appreciated. So OP go the 765. You will not regret. A will agree with scappy the tts is not even in the game if compare to the 765 or gt2rs.... it just a fast boring sled...capable though for the driver who wish to relax and let the car do most of the work.

Well said! There is an inverse relationship between the raw speed of the car and the comfort level of my brain!

Tires?
It's closer than 6secs. On 4/8 Nathan ran 143.4 (765), then 144.9 later in the GT2rs.

Nathan’s Gt2rs is so modified that it’s not useable on the streets . Cup car wing , roll cage , cup car suspension, other aero bits and a 45 horsepower tune . His modified Gt2rs is comparable to his stock 720 on track with lap times . Not comparable with 765 and not comparable oem gt2rs with oem 720s

Nathan only has mclarens after following me on Instagram and seeing others with mclarens exceeding his Porsche lap times at the same tracks .

So where do you guys use a car as fast as a 765? Can you ever really open it up on public roads without risk of jail or killing someone? I have some nice country roads in my area, yet I feel like all of my cars are too fast for these roads.

If you're using it as a track car, are you buying insurance? Is it reliable? Do you have a shop in your area which can work on the car?
