Question 992 GT3 Buzzing Sound

Hi all, I recently picked up a 992 GT3, and I've noticed that at speeds above 40 mph, there's a buzzing sound similar to a cicada coming from the dashboard area. It gets louder when I increase the speed, and I've been told that hearing these sounds is normal since there is less sound deadening in the car, but I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar things? I've attached a video clip of the sound below too.

No idea mine doesn't buzz from inside except the brake disc sound if you are not used to dimpled/drilled brake discs

What was the production date of your car? If July 2021, I might know the cause.

I just found out my car, built in July 2021 has water damage. There was still water in the hubs and they are all rusted. Germany had documented flooding in July 2021. See pics of my hubs. They are trying to say this is not covered by warranty. I will obviously be fighting this…Have yours checked and let me know if you find water damage.

do you have any other water damage in the car?
The centerline of the wheels is above the bottom of the car so you would think that there would be some water intrusion into the vehicle?
Check suspension because if it was underwater you’ll see evidence of water staining.
remove the rear diffuser and look if there’s any water evidence because it’s basically a big flat pan.
Did you check under the carpet for evidence of any water damage?
Good luck it looks really crappy.
should be Warranty !

I have noticed any other water damage but the dealer is looking for more water damage now. Will be interesting to see what they find.

Sorry, have “not” noticed any other water damage so far.

Going to visit the dealer tomorrow to see first hand what they are finding.

That kind of rusting does not require flooding. The hubs rust very quickly if you wash the car without the dust caps fitted (on the Centerlocks) - seen it on 991 commonly…

I have never removed the dust caps. Why would someone remove the dust caps to wash their car? There is visible water and sludge build up, that does not seem normal to me. The dealer said they have never seen anything like this.

I know some people remove their dust caps for the track to prevent losing them (not recommended, imo) and then wash without replacing. I’m not saying your car wasn’t flooded, but wouldn’t the water have to be high enough to flood the interior if it’s high enough to submerge the center locks?

And you can even rust the hubs if you use high pressure water (like diy car wash wand) on the center locks without removing the caps (more likely if caps are removed or poorly seated though).

Hope you get everything worked out promptly to your satisfaction.

Mine has a buzz right under the climate control display and behind the dash display behind the steering wheel. I wish it would go away but it hasn't. It comes and goes but mostly is present. My build was 10/2021

I don't really hear anything in this clip.

992s are notorious for interior buzzing/rattles, so what you hear could be normal.
