I'm supposedly getting a GT3 allocation in the near future as I'll be paying their requested ADM. What is typically the timeline of events starting with confirmation of the allocation? And when am I paying for what? I know I don't have to pay for the entire car until it lands, but are there partial payments along the way? Thanks!

Your ADM serves as your deposit.
It's usually paid when you are given a commission number by your dealer and your build sheet is submitted.

For me the total timeline was almost 1 1/2 years for initial conversation until delivery.

Called dealer to say I was interested.
Called again and said I am really interested, and dealer asked for $1K deposit.
Around 2-3 months later dealer said they might have an allocation.... That allocation fell through
1 week later dealer said he has an allocation if I wanted. He told me the terms - I said Hell yes...
Added another $4K for deposit - got commission #
And waited what seemed like forever.

For my GT3:

May 2019 - I put down $1k deposit on a car that didn't exist yet.
Feb 2021 - 992 GT3 was revealed worldwide
Apr 2021 - Got a text from dealer asking if I wanted a car at MSRP in first batch of allocations. June build.
Between - May and Sept, the car and European delivery was delayed 3 times
September 2021 - European delivery cancelled.
October 2021 - Car finally built
Dec 1st 2021 - Picked up car at PEC-ATL
Dec 2nd 2021 - Took the car to the AMP track and properly broke it in

That AMP run was a good one. Hope you are well.

You'll build a car, send in the Porsche code to the dealer; once that gets accepted, you'll get a TYD link. That link has about a 50% chance of working day 1.

Then you'll watch as each step along that TYD journey moves farther and farther out.

And then one day, miraculously the build will actually start. It'll finish quickly and get your hopes up.

Then it'll get stuck in Emden for 6 weeks and then finally get on a ship! And you'll think YES, it's finally almost here!

But then it'll get stuck in your local port for another 6 weeks!

And then, just as you forgot you even ordered a car, you'll get a call that your car has arrived.

And all the waiting will have been worth it.

Contraction 101. Without "consideration", an exchange of funds, there is no enforceable contract. IMO taking the ADM/deposit is consideration and it should prevent them from asking for a higher ADM in the future. Read the fine print to see if price increase from Porsche can be passed along.
