I’ve never owed a car longer than 675LT says a lot for me.

RS was my 3rd longest keeper and the Speedster is #2.

I think Nardo Gray would tone it down enough to where that giant wing wouldn't be so in your face, I think I could live with this. Now I just need to sell my House and get an allocation.

Dark color to hide an ugly car sounds like a buyer's compromise.

@GT3(991) Agree, the 992 3RS is ugly. The 991 GTs nailed the perfect balance.

Right, cuz a 911 C2S looks nothing like a GT3 Touring which has no resemblance to a GTS which is a model that looks totally different from a GT3 or RS.

LOL. And the 911s all come with different designs and different engines?

I find this statement hilarious

a 911 isn't the most beautiful, but it isn't ugly either

Porsche don't really make supercars - or rather they rarely make them e.g. Carrera GT and 918.

What defines a super car
(1) Mostly carbon fibre monocoque
(2) 8 - 12 cylinders, 6 or more with hybrid propulsion system
(3) use of structural composites
(4) often highly sophisticated suspension geometry
(5) distinctive design elements
(6) price
(7) ability to customise
(8) numbers produced
(9) HP and torque

Porsche GT cars are fantastic products but they are still a mainstream product.

In my subjective view the only good looking car Porsche currently make is the 982 Spyder and the Spyder RS will be an instance classic.

Personally, I would take the Senna, 765LT, 720S, 600LT before most Porsche sports cars - they offer very unique experiences both in terms of performance and design. Again, and from a personal perspective I would take a STO or 296 GTB over any current Porsche.

My first reaction to the 992 GT3 RS is…that is a terrible looking Porsche. The beauty of GT3s was perfected with the 991.1 GT3 and it has been down hill ever since. The 997.2 GT3 RS was the high water mark with the RS.

Just my opinion.

When you see it in the flesh, the new 992 GT3 RS is absolutely stunning!

Pictures (as in many cases) don't tell the story. the proportions, wing and all, are perfect.

Yes, I believe it.

Many cars do not photograph well. The Senna being the classic example. Up close, the thing just sparkles the way it doesn't two dimensionally on paper.

And for what it's worth, I don't think the RS is ugly at all. It's got that certain Germanic purposeful look to it.

I have to agree with you, the 991 series in terms of looks knocked it out of the park.

In my view I see it like this:-
996 GT series - we think this is a good idea, what do you think - genesis
997 GT series - ok we have listened , we think this is much better - work in progress
991 GT series - here you go and we've fixed the engine and delivered a world class engine - finished product
992 GT series - where to next?

I disagree with this definition. A supercar is a street legal car that has some combination of performance (power, laptime, etc.) that makes it pass some somewhat arbitrary threshold. This threshold changes over time. I think the classic example for me is a Ferrari 360. At the time the 911 Turbo offered similar performance, hence both supercars. Carrera GTs, F40s, and Sennas are in the hypercar territory, above supercars. "Normal" 911s, BMW Z4, normal corvettes, Supras, etc. are below "supercars." I "get" that GT3s are "low" hp nowadays for supercar status in many minds, but since they do laptimes that compete with supercars and certainly feel special, I say supercar. All this is silly and made up, there are enough cars that performance is a continuum, but I find this definition more useful.

1. ugly or not, only matters to the owner. I find many ppl's wives ugly but hey they aren't mine girl, I couldn't care less.
2. there are no super cars. a car is a car. get in and drive it.

Disagree - everyone knows a supercar when they see it - thats the truth.

A 765LT is a super car, a SF90 stradale is a super car.................a Porsche GT car is a tweaked sports car (911).

There is no definition and yet everyone knowns one when they see one(also there are some very obvious differences). A lap time or 0-60 time has nothing to do with a car being a supercar -

A Porsche GT car is built on a conventional production line about a mixed steel and aluminium structure - to which is added, literally bolted on selected CF/CFRP panels.

They are a well engineered performance car using insights from motorsport - in fact much like Subaru WRX STI special editions.

Design flair, materials, engine and construction seperate supercars from production line runs. Design flair does not necessarily deliver a beautiful silhouette but in conjunction with composites/ specialised material and construction does often deliver radical shapes, innovative packaging and unique aero solutions.

To put it simply Porsche GT dept. delivers pragmatic performance and thats why they are much loved by their owners (inc. me).

And that’s also the problem.

To most people, a 20 yo Maserati GT is a supercar, while a 2022 Porsche GT3 is just another Porsche.

The term Supercar doesn’t mean anything unless you are a car sheeple. Unfortunately, our society is filled with car sheeple trying to impress other car sheeple.
