I will say I did text Moe earlier today and asked him to give me a call at his convenience. He spent close to an hour on the phone with me and made me feel a lot better about this situation (that really sucks honestly). I did not realize that he could get the paint fixed when people were recommending him earlier.

I really appreciate the time we spent on the phone I will be working on getting an estimate from him for the repairs needed.

There is no magic. Money solves everything. Magic would be paying as much as normal installs and have perfection.

From close up, you can always tell when a car is covered in PPF film and even the best PPF job is not perfect. The cost I hear people spending on this ($3k - $8k) is enough to have the car detailed twice a year for 5+ years.
It’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of thing. PPF protects against minor scratches and parking lot bumps. I had some give it’s life for my front hood when a car in front of me kicked up a large plastic debris on the highway and ejected it at my face at 80mph. A sizable rash across the front but no permanent damage.

Of course $8k+ also covers a lot of minor paint correction and buffing.

This is why I keep saying don't let someone take a car apart for PPF. There is a good chance they don't know what they're doing and even when someone does know what they're doing, even with the procedures and guides next to them, some stuff can break or be almost impossible to fit again as good as when it was originally installed. There are many cars with tabs on bumpers, rockers, trim, that are designed to be weak so that they rip when the part is removed.

That panel for the vent isn't your quarter panel though. that is the rocker, and it is plastic. It can be painted. Silver isn't a great color for color matching though, especially with plastic butted up against the metal 1/4 panel the color usually will look difference just because the metallics stand up differently on plastic. I'd probably get it fixed myself though.

My 3 and 5 year old are why I have PPF. Accidents happen when they’re moving bikes around in the garage.

+100000…that picture is super cute and all I can think of is being that age and in the marvel of Dad’s fast sports car 😎😎

i can tell you as hard as we try to protect some things, kids will be kids, and I don’t want to be the dad that yells at them for scratching my stuff

Knowing film is there for the road stuff, parking lot stuff, and home stuff, is comforting for ME and has no bearing on the future owner…my sanity is priceless 😁😁

Jason at Carzwerk is the best I've seen. 100% transparency. Extreme attention to detail. High-quality craftsmanship. Good communication. Doesn't BS. Loves what he does. Lighyears above any other shop I've worked with, including some of the ones typically mentioned on this forum.

As with many things, but certainly especially true with PPF, buy the installer not the product.

PPF whether made by Xpel, Suntek, 3M, are all essentially the same and generally made from one supplier and each marque basically adds their own witch's brew to make it their own proprietary product. Sort of like gas. All comes from dinosaur juice (be it T-Rex or Veloce Raptor) but each brand adds their own propriety blend to make it Shell, Exxon or whatever.

You are in good hands with Moe. I had a great experience with American Wrap Co. in Thousand Oaks. Tyler is the owner. Solid team of guys there.

Not only is @MoeMistry a master when it comes to PPF/Detailing, he is also a terrific person. He has done all the work on my Brewster green GT3 and anyone who sees it goes bananas.

Every time you polish paint, you reduce thickness. You can only get away with a few full corrections in a car’s life. It depends on your use case.

I don’t have PPF on my 911. I don’t drive it daily, don’t track it and when I do drive it I can avoid following trucks, excessive highway, etc. In my daily, in Houston, I’ll fever, ever own a car without ful front PPF. The amount of road debris here is astonishing.
