So... they are louder than 991 GT3's. We has two new 992 GT3's on track and both in break in so no shifting past 7K and both busted sound. I was short shifting by the sound guy and still managed to hit 92.4db and the other guy who was a bit more aggressive with the right pedal hit 97.5db at the same spot.
Clear day, not humid...so a high ceiling.
This isn't looking good for stock 992 GT3's at LCMT.
I had a Dundon quiet muffler on my 991 and have their adapters coming to mount it on the 992 along with the N-ring tips i also had.
Also will be working on a bolt on solution for next week's event to hopefully help some locals pass.

I remember when Josh Golden was running a supertrapp sweep contraption on his GT3 Paul Savvedra (who was running the shop at MONTEREY PORSCHE at the time) told me the car never ran right at laguna with the exhaust restricted that much. He always thought restricting the GT3 exhaust for more than a short period at high RPMs wasn't good. I know that Dundon claims no power loss with their quiet but I've never talked to anyone who actually run that muffler long term. The problem is probably economics everyone wants a louder exhaust not something that will run 90db at 9K.
I ran the Dundon quiet for 2 years on the 991.2 and it worked great. I could pass soubnd at LCMT with that muffler and n ring tips AND i had the SOUL side muffler delete...valves open. Car was fast and passed sound...

Everyone wants the loudest muffler until they lose their hearing or can't drive at a track 😅

It's funny how people are still saying that the 992's aren't as loud as the 991's....The first time the valves were open and i was at WOT past 6K i knew it was loud. So much for the particulate filters making them sound like a camry lol.

Ok so thank you to Ted and Jamie for sending out (quickly) the adapters to install the Dundon Quiet muffler off my 991 on the 992. I will get that on today and then monday will be the test to see if it passes....
I will keep you posted.

Good news (mostly)! Of the about 10 sessions I was on track, only one did i bust sound. Most of my runs were in the 90db range with the one exception at 93.1db...not sure what happened there but I did push a little harder that time since there was very little traffic.
That said, the Dundon quiet + adapters for 992 plus N-Ring turndown's do work to reduce the volume.
There were about 6 new GT3's there at the event and almost all busted sound (manual and PDK alike)
A little video of the car on track (iphone video). Sound isn't great but...

That is good news. Any perceived difference in power?

No, none that I can tell.Still feels fast. Same speeds as my 991.2 on the long straight.

Cool, that's a great metric actually, almost as good as a dyno with an advanced driver. Any drone on the highway?

Indeed...especially since the new car (in it's more aggressive settings) has a lot more aero than the 991....more drag but the same speeds.

Default 102.3db @ Laguna Seca on a clear day

Just came back from a track day yesterday at Laguna (on a 103db day) where I asked them to give me a sound check. Measured over 3 laps on a clear day, they clocked me at 102.3db. Stock 992 GT3 w/PDK.

No drone with the cat back system Chris has with a quiet muffler... valves are still apart of the kit!

I did about 103.6 dB with some cloud cover.
