LOL, I had the same sad face moment when I was clean out the garage the other day - I thought I had stumbled on to even more pads...but no, just old ones in new boxes.

Thanks for that - assumed they were 12mm like Tarret. One more tool to buy

BoltDepot.com has 6x1x20mm A4 Stainless Setscrews and flange nuts. Shipping was reasonable.

Thanks for all of this! Huge help for those of us who haven't started the process yet--we're in track hiatus season here in the Northeast!

Thanks for info. Winter projects on mine starting soon! I have had my new GT3 on 4 tracks already, it’s a crazy good car. So easy to extract fast laps, almost too easy to be honest. My 3RS was a handful at times, so much fun but it was rewarding to put in quick laps because you knew you earned it. This new GT3 is so stable and fast that it seems like anyone could put in quick laps, not just experienced drivers. Anyone else notice this as well? It’s crazy because you can honestly drive it to the track in comfort, run quicker than 99% of the people there, then drive home in comfort again. Quite a car Porsche has made for us.

Next project: finding some suitable lift pads for the 992 for my scissor lift. Porsche changed the ~oval jack slot on the 991 to a ~1" circular hole on the 992 that is only ~10 mm deep in the front.

Some folks in the 992 forum mentioned that these Tesla pads from Traverse Ridge Racing fit (also available on Amazon for ~$21), so I ordered a set. While they may fit well enough for some folks, I didn't like that the center rubber portion bottomed out in the front and would crush down a bit during use, so I set off to find something that fit better. But to be clear, these seem like they would work well enough for most folks that want something simple and ready to go. They appear to just be hockey pucks with rubber feet screwed into them...

Since Teslas seemed to have a similar jack point opening, I tried to finding other Tesla jack pads that I could modify to fit better. I ordered a few different ones and in the end, the only one I was happy with fit-wise was these custom-machined pads from CZ Industries sold on eBay for under $50 shipped made out of aluminum and Delrin. Others I tried either didn't pop in the jack slot easily, or were very hard to remove, or had the o-ring placed too high on the center pillar preventing modification to fit the 992.

While the CZ pads fit the deeper pair of jack points towards the rear of the 992, they bottomed out on the ~10 mm deep front jack points. I tried contacting CZ to see if they'd make a custom set for 992 owners, but so far no response. So I ended up just machining the tops off of the CZ jack pads until the height from the top of the Delrin to the top of the center extension was 9 mm. Now they fit well: they stay put nicely and are easy to insert and remove. Finished product:

The gap here between the jack point and the pad is just due to the pad hanging by the o-ring:

Seems like a job for a 3D printer (and some hockey pucks). Just need the O-rings.

First project - lift pucks. These take a 1/8" width o-ring and screw into a standard hockey puck. The spider is a tool for centering it. If you want the STL files, please PM me.

Nice. Please post a photo of the finished product!

With a 3D-printer, I was thinking you could just print the center part with some spring fingers that snap into the grooves in the hole in the car and avoid the whole rubbery o-ring thing. But the o-ring-based metal pucks I posted have been working really well!

Track day #2 complete at Laguna Seca and the car felt great. Amazingly the Porsche Track Precision app is working well! So far the only odd thing I've noticed is strange rotor wear on my driver's side rotor. For whatever reason I've already worn grooves into the rotor after just 2 track days. I didn't do an explicit bedding prior to the first event, so I wonder if this could be related to pushing pads that weren't bedded in on fresh rotors too aggressively too early. Or perhaps the 992 iron rotors are a bit soft? The rotor on the passenger side looks more normal.

Pedal feel in general is acceptable and well-controlled, though there is a bit of pedal movement that feels like the AND pumps are activating a bit and doing some active management (prior to any wheel locking). It's a bit of an odd feeling compared to the 991.

And Dolomite subtly looking good , IMO:

As for sound, the car blew a 103.8 dB on the 103 dB limit day. We had three 992 GT3s there and all of us got meatballed at least once. Time to get an exhaust solution in place...

In other news, the roll bar should be here next week, and the custom TRS harness the week after. I'm looking forward to installing those soon!

1. Good news that the Track Precision app works well. I’ll have to try it before installing my AiM system and tapping into the CAN bus. I’m assuming you’re using it with an iPhone for video—which windshield phone mount have you had luck with?

2. I see you’re using the OEM tow hooks front and rear. Good solution for now. To my knowledge, nobody (Rennline, OMP, etc.) has come to market yet with an aftermarket tow hook. Where did you get the second one for the rear—Suncoast?

3. I received the Pirellis as well in the Porsche Tire Randomizer Lottery. How have they been on track?

4. LOL at the sound level. Lime Rock has a sound limit of 86 dB on most days. I’ll have to short shift until the last run of the day…

Do the rennline 992 hooks not work?

Maybe for the rear, but I’m assuming the front fascia/bumper of the GT3 is not the same as that of regular 992s, and so the shaft length of the tow hook is likely different. I contacted Rennline a few weeks ago and they said they needed to get ahold of a new GT3 to take measurements.
