Default EPA/CARB

Does anyone know how to track or get results from the EPA/CARB approval process?

Does anyone know when the anticipated/expected time for (best case) approval is?

I realize the on-sale date is 9/17. I would hope the approval would be anticipated in August sometime.

im considering holding off my ED ticket purchase and other payments for activities until I know the car has been approved for delivery.

Plan on late October/early November for approval to finalize. Then you won’t be disappointed.

Disappointment isn’t the issue as much as I don’t want to have a bunch of prepaid stuff canceled. My ED is scheduled for Oct 12. So, I’m being proactive trying to see what to look for as far as timing for approval goes.

If the car isn’t certified by the anticipated target date, then I will know it’s likely to be a conflicting delay.

just trying to figure out what the timeframe is.

As you know, my ED was delayed from Sep 28th to Oct 27th due to production issues at the factory. Luckily I had reimbursable flights. Lost about $100 to get reimbursed for a track day at SPA that I had to cancel.

There is too much uncertainty with supply chain issues, CARB approval, and even Covid still that I would book everything with the ability to move the dates easily.

In that case. ED dates shouldn’t be effected, but when you have the car shipped into the US. It will more than likely sit at port until CARB approval.

Unfortunately, they can’t release the car, even in Europe, until EPA approval.

My car is slotted to be complete by late July. If it misses, then I know the ED date won’t work.

Did not know that. Makes an early model year ED delivery a sketchy proposition 😳

Correct. I asked PCNA that question a while ago. It still counts as a US sale even for an ED and they can't make a US sale until CARB is approved.

One of the most mind-numbing rules ever.

I have never understood that.

You prepay the car over here to a dealer. Ergo its bought. Therefore it needs all certs in place.

My car is being built the last week of August. But with this unknown Carb stuff (I didn't know it had to be approved before we could get the car in Germany), I decided to not do it this time.
