Will US cars have active OPF?
Havent seen this discussed yet. Theoretically should be like the speedster (and 718) where US only gets unmonitored, non coated OPF matrix. Any cleaning lady info?
I also dont see monitored particulate filter noted in Standard equipment on UK configurator. So we may not be able to tell from website tomorrow....

I'm not sure but I doubt that USA cars will have any sort OPF/GPF. However, I hope @Jamie@dundonmotorsports and the team at Dundon get some exhaust goodies that bypass any sort of cats/OPF. I'm nabbing an RS this time around and can't wait to hear what Dundon comes up with. Hopefully they'll be the first to have a donor car to do research on when the 992 GT3 lands here in the USA. Not discounting other brands, of course, but Dundon did come up with the original design for the long tube headers for the 991 GT3.

I agree with that.....but getting rid of the OPF and center muffler will make it stronger, sound better and weigh even less.

Remember that there are no side mufflers, so getting rid of the center muffler is going to make your neighborhood sound like the Mulsanne Straight at Le Mans

These cars have 6-800 cell cats and opf matrix (at a minimum). Ain gonna sound like a race car. My guess is 102-105 dB topps with a rear pipe and stock headers. Race cars are way over 130

He said get rid of OPF's and center muffler (and I guess I assumed he meant cats too)...

A close friend of mine has a 991.1 GT3 with sharkwerks exhaust. We go driving together a lot so I listen to it from an external perspective a couple times a month. It is the best sounding Porsche I've ever heard. That's the sound and db level I want in the 992 GT3. The OPFs are going to have to go. The designers and enthusiast didn't envision it that way......they are being forced to do it.

I’ve heard a buddy’s 991.2 with Dundon race headers and center bypass (or maybe it was the loud Dundon center muffler) and it’s louder than a 991 Cup race car...

Just remember that 991 has 3 mufflers stock (and retains 2 with Sharkwerks center bypass) and the 992 has 1...

Edit: I see, like on the speedster (https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...l#post15788752)
I wonder if this affects how to get it quiet for Laguna.

The new valves are internal to the muffler and are electronically controlled and infinitely variable (instead of the problematic binary vacuum controlled ones from 991).

I ran Akrapovic link pipes and slip-on race on my 991.2 GT3. Sounded epic and really suited the car. Lots of compliments at the track. But it was too loud for all the time, for me. Basically straight pipes cat back. Took out the link pipes and kept the slip-on race. Sounds better than stock but not as epic as with link pipes.
OPF housing does mute the exhaust. I know this from my Spyder. Before winter I replaced the OPf cans with Akra link pipes, sounds much better but adding the slip-on race centre when the weather improves. Difference on 718 is that it retains mufflers on the centre exhaust, so will be quieter than GT3.
